Did anyone see this Clapton authorized bio? I thought the snippet of While My Guitar Gently Weeps sounded re-mixed.
Lots of input from Patti. I don't know if it was newly recorded or taken from the audio version of her book.

I have seen mention of this but if MY Sweet Pattie is in it then maybe I better watch it!
I'd be most interested in the George connection and, of course, Pattie!

It's 12 Bars. iPhone malfunction! I fixed it Mark, that's why your first post is said to be edited. I just filled in the Thread Title, thanks for pointing this film out!

Ozzy Osbourne is supposedly on his last tour too.

I would not fret over these last tour claims by Elton John and such. As long as they have some semblance of health their egos and pocketbooks will forever tempt them to keep doing live concerts.

Shoot. It's been years since Cher did a retirement tour. It's about time for another one.

I think the word "tour" is going to be replaced with "residency." Thanks to Las Vegas, instead of going on a 60 city tour or 180 day world tour, one can stay in a plush environment, eat well, sleep normal hours, stay physically active, have your family and friends with you, and have the fans come to you instead of you going to them during a 4 month residency at a resort. Some bands are even doing cruises.
Seems kinda cheesy and non-rock and roll now, but times and the economy have changed. Sure, the spectacle of a traveling tour is quite special, but perhaps our mindsets will need to readjust. Our radio listening and record buying habits have changed, so our concert going and their touring habits will also have to change. Tours will be missed. But, at the same time, there will be no disappointment if an artist skips your town or if you couldn't get tickets for the tour stop in your city. Opportunities to see your favorite artist will be easier. The cost of the ticket will not change much. You'll just have to make it part of a larger vacation. For the biggest acts, you might have to pick and choose more.
For all the drawbacks, I think that if we want to continue seeing are favorites live as they age (hopefully, they will still viable and able to deliver), residencies will be the way to go.

I hope the younger acts continue to tour! Here are your choices: 1) the Avett brothers tour but keep skipping your town or 2) they realize that they can make the same amount of money, in fact more because of less expenses) playing Branson, Missouri for a 40 show residency. I think you might rather have them do the residency rather than the tour. I realize the Avett Brothers fanbase is probably not as extensive to warrant a residency like that, but you get my point. Hardly anyone comes out in the black on concerts anymore. Residencies will be the way to go. However, I think Paul has found the right balance - breaking up his "world tours" into smaller increments. In my opinion, although he has given different names to his tours, he's been on a world tour for 18 years. Same 25 some-odd songs, same band, same shtick, same ending, same explosions, etc.

What you write makes sense sayne but I lament more change to how I hear, buy and now see(and hear) music! I just read that the last U.S. Compact Disc manufacturing plant closed in my Indiana city of Terre Haute!
Not to embarrass you sayne but you are a member of an awesome recording and performing Rock Band of considerable fame(No ladies he is not Paul McCartney AND he is married, as he freely admits), is your band finding this true?! A resident venue serves you better than touring?
Thanks for the info that bands are losing money on touring which I did not know!! I thought that was the only place they made money and no longer by their recordings! I thought that's why people like Paul were touring because the money was Fab!
Geez, see!? Everything I loved about Rock and Roll, buying hard copies of 45's, LPs and then CDs and catching my favorite act if they toured close to me, is ending and we just have access to music electronically and just video feeds for live performances at some "undisclosed location!"
It is not a brave new world!
