Sadly another friend of the Beatles Sir Ken Dodd passed away yesterday aged 90. 'Doddy' as he was affectionately known was a famous comedian in his own right and stayed loyal to his Liverpool roots. He lived in the same house in his native "Knotty Ash" part of the city for his entire life and was still performing to live audiences until very recently when he fell ill with a chest infection. Paul McCartney paid a tribute to Ken yesterday : t.co/ytd8SyRtipI appreciate he wasn't probably well known beyond these shores. So here's a little clip of Doddy with the Beatles on Granada TV back in 1963.

I enjoy watching The Beatles laugh out loud to much of Ken Dodd's words. They clearly thought him funny!

I think some of that humour was very much of its time. Its a bit lost on even me.
But I did see 'Doddy' a few years ago and he managed to keep up with times. A long 5 hour show with a short break of 30 mins from a support act. Not bad for a man in his 80s. No swear words, no risqué jokes, just pure fun and a joke a minute. He was literally the last of his generation.
