I remembered John on his Birthday.
I wondered, if he was still around, would he have released a song about the One After 9:09 pulling into Egypt Station.

Sirius/XM The Beatles Channel is remembering John Lennon all week for his birthday(and the fantastic re-issue of Imagine) and it is so refreshing!
It doesn't take away the always lingering pain of losing John too damn early but it is nice that for a week he is front and center.

RIP John Lennon!
38 years without your presence and the new music you would have made is too damn long!
Pattie Boyd Harrison Clapton wrote so movingly on her Facebook Page and I quote her from December 8, 2015:
"35 years ago a shiny star began to bright in the sky, 35 years ago a life was gone. 35 years later his thoughts and music are still alive, perhaps his message is more important than ever, and his soul is protecting us. John, you left us too soon, we still need you, we need more people like you, to make people think and believe in peace and rights. Thank you for your words, your happiness, your compassion, your songs, your thoughts, for being yourself in a world that at the time didn't understand you but now does. You're much missed John, Rest in Peace darling, we will meet again in our next life."

The announcer on ESPN, during tonight's Louisville/Virginia Tech game, said that Louisville went to the final four in '75. "That was when, that was the year John Lennon died, I think."
Odd that he'd comment on Lennon dying to begin with.

Excerpt from my book, from the 1982 Monkees convention, Peter Tork on the death of John Lennon:
“I’ve noticed in my life that there are two kinds of pain in this life. One is the pain of growing up, and the other is the pain of refusing to grow up. And the pain of growing up changes, and there’s wonderful rewards attached to that—without drugs—and the pain of refusing to grow up is the same pain over and over and over again, and it never changes and there’s no rewards. But it seems easier to live without living, ‘cos life is tough. It’s a hassle to live.
Life is a pain, sometimes, and Lennon embraced the pain of his living. He struggles with issues like feminism and struggles with his own sexism and struggled with his own political understanding and strove to learn his own humanity. And he worked like hell, he worked hard and he gave it all he had and that’s awful rare. So that’s what made him special. Y’know, when Elvis died, well, Elvis dies, y’know, it’s too bad, it’s the death of a legend. But when Lennon died, a warrior went down.”

Remembering John 41 years after that horrific night that made being a Beatles' fan a lot less fun and slammed shut so many doors forever! R.I.P. John Lennon!

RIP John Lennon, gone but not forgotten. As a music fan in these fucking horrible times we live in, I could use new music from John Lennon and George Harrison! I miss both so much and their deaths slammed doors that can never be reopened!

Good point John, both irreplaceable. They provided musical joy that can't be matched by today's artists. And in this era of so much violence, John and George would have provided music to calm and reassure us as Paul often does. As Brian Wilson sang, I just wasn't made for these times.
