Have been a fan of The Beatles since 1962, although I didn't buy my first record until early 1963 when I bought both Please Please Me and Love Me Do. Not sure exactly when as it could have been with record tokens received at Xmas '62 or for my birthday in March. Either way, it's now 56 years and counting.
So I am also old enough to remember the world before the world wide web. Back then, one tended to dial up and connect to one's favourite BBS or, sign on to something called Usenet. One of the great discoveries was a newsgroup call rec.music.beatles - I was hooked! Imagine, somewhere where it was possible to discuss all aspects of The Beatles. Not just chatter between us fans but there was Allan Pollack's wonderful Notes On series and, of course, the colossus that was Saki.
As a Brit, I was very envious of the availability of bootlegs. Someone in California (whose name now is lost is the mess that is my memory) kindly taped a couple of albums from the Ultra Rare Trax series and posted them to me.
Since then, the web has exploded and can answer just about any question one can ask - except why did they sack Pete Best :-)
Oh well, enough intro from me.

A Beatles' First Generation Fan I rather like that description. Far better than the usual Miserable Old Git
