As we all know, the last group photos were taken at John's humble abode. However, I always wondered which photo as actually the last one taken. I went to the Mark Lewisohn "Hornsey Road" show this week, he said it was this one:

That is really cool, Keith! Did you enjoy the show?
Did Mark say what the purpose of this photo session was for? Was it specifically for the American compilation album now known as Hey Jude or was it to be tied to Abbey Road?
Some friends attended the Liverpool presentation of this, where did you see ML? They liked it but wished Mark could have played more tape from the September 8th Beatles meeting.

They liked it but wished Mark could have played more tape from the September 8th Beatles meeting. Hi John, the show was great! I saw him in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and, like your friends, I would loved to have heard more from that tape. ML claims that he got into some legal bother after announcing that he was going to play excerpts. Might be that it was just a publicity stunt to attract an audience. Either way, it was really interesting to hear the few seconds that he played. Also fascinating to hear his paraphrased version of what Lennon said at that meeting. Especially considering that he is quoted in Lennon Remembers as saying: "We were in Apple and I knew before I went to Toronto, I told Allen [Klein] I was leaving. I told Eric Clapton and Klaus that I was leaving ..." Then a week after Toronto, he announced his decision to the other Beatles. As for the Tittenhurst photo session, everything I have read suggests it was just a routine photo session. I don't think it was related to Hey Jude as that LP didn't happen until after the contract renegotiations that Klein was working on at the time. You can imagine Klein's thought processes. First he negotiates a new contract with larger royalties. Then, knowing that Lennon was leaving, he hastily arranges for a new LP for the American market to capitalise on the new contract. I wonder whether he thought that interest in The Beatles would wane once folk knew that Lennon was leaving. As for Abbey Road, I assume the Tittenhurst session was probably for use in publicity for the album. I hope your friends remember more than I do about the show ...

LOL, they got pissed (the British pissed) before the show and one described Mark as wearing, "a Belisha beacon, which is the pole and light at each end of a zebra crossing." It was explained that he wore an orange waistcoat and is bald!
Their favorite story was the "Mean Mr. Mustard" story, again from a random newspaper article Lennon saw!
They felt the show kind of general, geared perhaps for a more general audience not for hardcore Beatles' Freaks!
However, they were pissed as I say so they might be forgetting details too!
