Do you count Wings' albums as part of Paul McCartney's solo discography or should they be considered separate from his solo work?

I've always thought of Wings as Paul's solo band. Just as John and Yoko albums are John Lennon albums.

The JSD Postulate holds up Paul's first four Solo albums as sacred, holy offerings. Paul at his very best when he was funky, wild and free!
Of those four, only McCartney is just credited to Paul but us Postulites view those as Paul McCartney Solo albums no matter what is printed on the album jackets.

This is where I part with the "Postulate".
You ask how many 'good' albums. We used to call any album 'good' if it had at least 3 songs that we really liked and nothing we had to skip. For me, Paul strained that definition a lot. He almost always had one or two songs an album I had to skip. That said, Wings had what I'd say were 5 great albums.
Band on the Run Venus and Mars Back to the Egg London Town Wings at the Speed of Sound
Not using my 'good' album measure, I'd say Wings Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway are good.

I like every Wings album with my favorites being:
1. Wings Wild Life; 2. Red Rose Speedway; 3. Band On The Run; and 4. Venus And Mars.
The others all have some really good songs and some just okay ones.
Of course, I love McCartney and Ram more than my numbers 3 and 4 above but they are not Wings albums.

Surprised to see BOTR in your number 5 slot.
EDIT: I get it, it's Wings only.
Still, as much as you have slagged it over the decades...

Even though Geoff Emerick was involved, the sound is not sharp and crisp like on Abbey Road or even Wings Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway. My biggest objection in re BOTR was in Paul's promotion of it, for the first time feeling the need to remind us that he was once Beatle Paul such as putting all of those Beatles' images in the promo film for the title song! The Beatles were dead and Paul had been working hard to make it on his own, doing it his way and being funky, wild and free! Now he was crawling back into his "Beatle Paul" box. It got considerably worse each subsequent album until Paul became a golden moldie!

I like your choice of 5 albums debjorgo, if you have them in order then i'd have Speed of Sound 3rd and Egg 5th. I still can't consider Wild Life a good album. It's too bad Red Rose Speedway was never the double album Paul first intended, would the extra songs have improved the album or were they left off because they were deemed Granny music.

My list is in order. I like the more rockn' Back to th Egg better than Speed of Sound, that with its poppy sound, seemed like a let down after Band and Venus. I love Mumbo, Some People Never Know and Tomorrow. To be honest, on the double Red Rose, I haven't listened to those songs since I got the deluxe set.

I have since re-listened to the double Red Rose Speedway album. It is surprisingly better than the single disc. However, in '73, I don't think I had the cash to put out for a double album.

I played it on YouTube last year and wasn't as impressed as you were. I wasn't convinced there was a good single album among the two records. I turned 15 in July of '73, and I too didn't have money to spend on a double album--except I did scrape together enough for GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD, because my dad paid me a dime for every point I scored in basketball, and I averaged about 5 points a game during that junior year. JcS You once told a great story of being in a fast car with hot babes listening to RRS when it was still a new album! Great stuff! I have never listened to RRS with the opposite sex except maybe my ex and she did not react to it like those hot babes did in your buddy’s fast car!
