Tom Hanks came onstage with Monty Python at the Concert for George. He was also a prominent figure at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Is there some connection with Harrison that I'm missing?

Good question. Admittance to the stage at The Concert For George was very selective. One had to have a real connection to George. Thank God or Sheryl Crow would have whored out the whole event. So Hanks must have a close Harrison connection!

He must be a big fan. There was a story in the British press a few months ago about his wife buying an original (and very expensive) Beatles promo poster as a present for her hubby. Mrs Hanks subseuqently defaulted on payment when the seller couldn't authenticate it and was sued for her troubles.

I understand Tom Hanks is a very big Beatles fan. (Who isn't?) And a big Monty Python fan as well. That is why he got to be one of the RCMP's in the skit they did at George's concert in 2002. He's old enough to remember The Ed Sullivan Show in Feb. '64 like the rest of us Boomer's who got hooked that night.

So the George Harrison "lesson of the day" is that if you are a super rich, super famous fan, you get to do cool things like appear in Monty Python skits at the Concert For George or hang out with Paul, Olivia and Dhani(and other beautiful people) at the Hollywood Star of Fame. The rest of us fans get stale cake. Only guys like Hanks could afford all of that Genesis Book stuff anyway!

. . . He's old enough to remember The Ed Sullivan Show in Feb. '64 like the rest of us Boomer's who got hooked that night. You can really see it in the detail of the That Thing You Do which he directed (acted in, as well). He took the details of the Sullivan show and incorporated them in his movie, for example the "Sorry, girls, he's married", when they showed the married member of the band, a la John. I think he may have also used control room dialogue used when other bands performed. For example, when the camera zoomed in on one of the Wonders and the director said something like "Too ugly." I think that may have been said about Bill Wyman when the Stones were on the Sullivan show.

Tom Hanks strikes again !! This guy must REALLY like the Bealtes, he shows up for George's Hollywood star reveil, along with Paul, and now shows up in NY with Yoko for the John exhibit)
"The exhibit, which opens to the public tomorrow after a gala tonight that Ono, Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner and actor Tom Hanks are all expected to attend."
