Hey guitar geeks......I was watching Concert For Bangladesh the other night and I've always been impressed George's guitar tone for that show. Does anybody know which amp he's using. There's an Ampeg behind him which I suspect is his but there's such an array of different amps it's tough to be sure. I always liked the little bank of four Fenders to his left. I was who was using those?
I absolutely love the Come into My Kitchen jam on the extra features section. I think this is one of the best examples of George's guitar playing. When his confidence was strong, he could really jam!
The guitar duel between him and Clapton is priceless. Look at Clapton's face when George starts to really feel it. He starts to climb the neck and Eric's like "watch it mate your starting sound better than me." Then he gives a look like " see bro you CAN play the blues." I think George wins the duel.

I'll have to take a look-not sure I saw that. I watched the main concert once, and put it away.

Boy, I oh so wanted to see what you saw, so I went back to review it, but I just didn't see what you saw. George did not climb the neck. George made a mistake. Eric didn't look at George once. In fact, Eric's eyes looked closed the whole time. George's playing really wasn't THAT great. Not bragging, but I can play it. Also, as Clapton said, he was not playing with a guitar that lended itself to fluid blues, and as I alluded to earlier, Clapton was strung out. I think the best guitarist that night was Leon Russell's guitarist (Don Preston?)

Look again, George starts to climb the neck and he hits about the highest note in the solo. Eric is looking at George and begins smiling and briefly even looks at George's neck. Not bragging, but I can play both parts as well, but could we have come up with the solo on the spot in front of Madison Square Garden? This has always been my favorite moment in the concert. Look again. Having been in bands for most of my life, I know that look an Clapton's face.

Yeah, While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Check it out on You Tube if you don't own the DVD. The part I'm referring to is the solo at the end of the song! I love it. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving!
