Kinda late, so I can't do a full review now. However, Paul's last show on the tour in Dallas was great. One surprise was the addition of "It's So Easy" to the set list. Of course, in honor of the late, great Buddy Holly.

Overall it was a great show, although I wasn't crazy about the venue (it's too big and there seemed to be mass confusion with the ushers/security/food & beverage areas). I loved Paul's version of "It's So Easy". It was a nice surprise that they did that. Paul looked and sounded great. I swear it almost looks like he could still pose for the cover of "London Town" or "Back to the Egg" LP. He didn't seem too upset that this was the last show of the tour. He said this was the last show "before we go on holiday", so hopefully he'll get back on the road again before too long. Other highlights were "Paperback Writer", "Got to Get You Into My Life" and "My Love". Some of the acoustic numbers didn't come across as well, but this was probably more due to the venue (the brand new gigantic, cavernous Cowboys Stadium, where it appears they're still trying to work out the kinks of their sound system). I liked the scrolling multi-media show on the diamondvision screens before the concert too. It had lots of photos/video of Paul and the Beatles, stuff from the 50's & 60's plus LOTS of photos of Linda. For some reason they left the world's largest HDTV shut off until the end of the show, when finally they flashed some psychedelic images/cartoons to Sgt Pepper reprise/The End.

Thanks for the reviews. I have read that this new Dallas stadium is a monster, like everything else in Texas!
If only Paul knew that our friend theman was there then he might have played "Listen To What The Man Said" or more appropriately, "The Man" with Abe capably handling the MJ parts. Paul could kill two birds with one stone there(not that Paul would harm birds): a tribute to MJ and theman!
This mini-tour of Paul's was interesting in both where he played and where he did not. What is the consensus here, was Paul testing himself to see if he and his voice are up to further touring as I can't believe that he was testing the market as he will almost always sell out.

I saw his CitiField show, as well, and I have to say his voice is very stong (heck, I thought he had more vocal issues on the '89 tour). So far, I've received messages from a lot of friends/colleagues that went to the show last night (much more the casual fan) and everyone says they were blown away by the concert.
I have been a bit of a critic of his recent set list and lack of adventurousness, but, with perspective, he really did bring quite a bit of new stuff to this tour. Between new songs that I don't think have ever been played in the U.S. as a solo act ("Calico Skies", "Day Tripper", "A Day in the Life/Give Peace a Change", "Mrs. Vanderbilt"), very rarely played songs ("I'm Down", "It's So Easy"), new songs ("Only Mama Knows". "Dance Tonight", "Highway", and "Sing the Changes"), songs on which he had new codas/extended versions ("I Got a Feeling" and "Paperback Writer") and songs that really have not been "overplayed" for us hard core fans ("Helter Skelter"), I was glad I did take in this tour. Even songs like "Let Me Roll It" seemed a bit reinvigorated. For those who think he should hang it up on certain songs, well this was the first, and maybe only, time my 13 year old got to see Sir Paul. I have to say, I'm glad she got to hear "Jet", ""Band on the Run" "Hey Jude", "Back in the U.S.S.R.", "Eleanor Rigby" and "Let it Be". Her favorite moment in the show was, not surprisingly, "Live and Let Die". When she asked me what songs he didn't play and I rattled off a few familiar ones, she was shocked at how much he had to leave out. "What", she said, "no "Can't Buy Me Love"?!!? Anyway, you get the idea.
Finally, JSD, if Macca had performed "The Man", I might have done a full fledged "Mam-bo Stomp" right there in my Texas skivvies (even without wearing any cowboy boots!!!)

Since I mentioned the set list, thought I should include it... 1. Drive My Car 2. Jet 3. Only Mama Knows 4. Flaming Pie 5. Got To Get You Into My Life 6. Let Me Roll It / Foxy Lady 7. Highway 8. The Long and Winding Road 9. My Love 10. Blackbird 11. Here Today 12. Dance Tonight 13. Calico Skies 14. It's So Easy (Buddy Holly) 15. Mrs Vanderbilt 16. Eleanor Rigby 17. Sing the Changes 18. Band on the Run 19. Back in the U.S.S.R. 20. I’m Down 21. Something 22. I’ve Got a Feeling 23. Paperback Writer 24. A Day in the Life / Give Peace A Chance 25. Let It Be 26. Live and Let Die 27. Hey Jude 28. Day Tripper 29. Lady Madonna 30. I Saw Her Standing There 31. Yesterday 32. Helter Skelter 33. Get Back 34. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) /The End Also, has Paul done the "electric ending" version of "Something" on prior tours? I know that he performed it this way (part uke/part electric) with Clapton at the Queen's "thingy." Can't remember if he played it this way in 2005. By the way, the photo tribute to George was incredibly touching. The pic with Paul's head on George's shoulder was priceless (as was the other one of the two of them smiling together). I guess touches like that are what make me happy to hear songs like "Something" again and again over multiple tours. By they way, here's a review from the Dallas Morning News. www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/082009dnentmccartney.fad500ff.html

Here's "Calico Skies" and "It's So Easy" from last night's show. Nice to see Paul do a very rare stray from his rigid set list to do the Holly song. He has performed that song before-I think back in the 70s-at a Buddy Holly tribute.

He did WMGGW with Clapton at the Queen's Jubilee as well as at the CFG. He adopted this arrangement for Something I think sometime in 07. I think he should now bag the ukelele version and stick with the Abbey Road arrangement. I also think he should finish the last verse of Day in the Life, then do Give Peace a Chance.

The Dallas show was the 5th Paul concert that I've attended, and in my opinion, it's my favorite. I know this thread is a few months old, but I just wanted to post something since I attended the concert, and a fine energetic entertaining concert it was. Paul was in top form, and was having a great time, so hard to beleive Paul is 67, he has the energy a 42 year old wishes he had. It was a concert that celebrated the 20th year of Beatle concerts for me, since I saw Ringo in July 1989 in Dallas at his very first AllStarr band show ever, and a grand celebration marking the 25th year of me being a Beatle's fan.
