I promise I'm not trying to stir things up here, but I read on one of the Steve Hoffman forum threads that a couple people--allegedly with advance copies of the Stereo set--are claiming there is a previously unheard clip of "Carnival of Light" not on the Sgt. Pepper mini-doc, but in the White Album one. . .Anyone else heard this? Steve?
Could it be on the White Album doc because John sampled a clip of CoL for Revolution 9? I'm not even sure if that's true, but know I've read that fact/theory...anyway, I have no idea how these people would know it was in fact CoL they were hearing and not something else unless it was explicitly credited as such, but wouldn't we have heard about it by now if that was the case??? thoughts?

For one thing it's not appropriate to that album. And besides, these are five minute documentaries about the albums as we know them. You get a tiny bit of studio-to-control-room chatter (most of which you've heard - except on the Abbey Road documentary, which has some nice things that struck me as new) but mostly the music is excerpts from the songs you know, in their standard forms or in a variant from Anthology. Besides -- don't you think if any of Carnival of Light had turned up, I'd have mentioned it by now? A Regards, Beatle Bob

Thanks Bob, that clears up the mini-doc...what about the idea that John sampled portions or sounds from CoL for REVOLUTION 9 during the WA sessions? I know I've read that before, but don't know how reputable that claim is. . .Anyone know for sure?

I just watched the White Album mini-doc. There is a short segment where Paul and Ringo talk in a very echoey clip, but I didn't feel like this was anything more than just fooling around in the studio. I suppose I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
I watched several of the docs tonight. As I wrote on the Examiner site, there are bits of unreleased video and audio in each. The MMT doc has tantalizingly clean clips from the SFF video and the "All You Need Is Love" broadcast. I hope they're whetting our appetites for a video collection.
