Limiting this discussion to the soon-to-be-released remastering of the 1962-1970 official albums, does that mean that there will be NOTHING else left for Apple/Capital to do to make money off these albums? Or, are there other "clever" or "technological" things that still can be done? I, frankly, hope not. I want my 1962-1970 Beatles album collection to be complete and final - finally.

5.1 mixes jump to mind as something which should have been released contemporaneously with the remasters. Or are they going to wait another 20 years and deliver them just on the point of that particular platform becoming obsolete, too?

The remixed versions (rumoured to have already been done) of the catalogue will someday be released. Say in another 15 years or so? So start saving once more... ;D

I guess we will get a 5.1 DVD Video Hits version one day. Apple like to drip feed products but with Rockband I think things are about to change. We might actually see a lot more products the back catalogue will almost certainly be online soon as well.

Here is the link to an interesting article in Newsweek/MSNBC.com suggesting the current Beatles' comeback is mistimed, something The Beatles themselves were good at avoiding in the Sixties, never becoming dated. The writer says this is the last hurrah for compact discs. blog.newsweek.com/blogs/popvox/archive/2009/09/07/are-the-beatles-remastered-cds-worth-buying.aspxWhat do you think? P.S. You will have to get past his assertion that With The Beatles was the U.S. breakthrough album(he is correct that it was released when President Kennedy was in Dallas but Meet The Beatles was our breakthrough album over here).
