Darren D'Rito here.
What's some of everyones favorite Beatles gear that they have seen in person. This could include actual places too. i.e. Abbey Road Studio, Strawberry Fields etc.
I think mine was John's Gibson acoustic guitar that he used through out his Beatles career. You could see some on the paint remaining even after he sanded it all down. Also interesting was the placement of the pick up. I had my Beatles Gear book with me when we visited the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame so I noticed it right away.
Also cool was the Sgt Pepper green jacket. I noticed when you see all the clothes displayed for the Beatles / Rolling Stones you realize how small there are. Especially the Rolling Stones. Tiny little men. I'd fall on one and crush them. Darren D'Rito

For me it's got to be seeing Paul play the Hoffner from the Candlestick Park show on his '89 tour. You could still see the Beatles set list attached to the side with peeling, yellowed tape. Cool.

There was a traveling MTV exhibit that hit shopping centers at least ten years ago. Among the items exhibited was John's jacket from the concert segment of AHDN. It was displayed full length in a glass case. You could stand right in front of it and be inches away. It was pretty emotional for me seeing that coat.

I'd have to say all the Beatle stuff they have in the R&RHOF, too. I liked seeing the bits of paper with the songs in various forms of composition. And I agree with you, Darren, about the clothes on display there. My gosh, could Freddie Mercury be any smaller? I was there last year and they also had The Doors stuff on the top floor. Very cool. I can't remember all the Beatle stuff, so I'm going to have to make another trip soon. ;D JCV

I saw the Magical Mystery Tour bus (or at least a replica) at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios in Orlando. Pretty cool, even if it was a replica...

This isn't about me, but a friend of mine worked for a company that does services for major artists when they do their rehearsals for tours. My friend and someone else were sent on an errand to this huge "hanger" near the airport that houses equipment by a large number of very known performers. He looked over and saw a guitar case that had an interesting look to it, so he went over, picked it up, opened it, and almost shit in his pants. IT WAS PAUL'S HOFNER! He said he literally shook and sweated as he picked it up, and he's not even a Beatle fan as we are, but he knew the significance of what his was holding.

Hard Rock Cafe sometimes has some very interesting items once owned by famous Rock stars. I once saw a guitar owned by John Lennon and another guitar owned by Jimi Hendrix.
A couple years ago I saw John Lennon's psychedelic Rolls Royce when it came through town on the way to an auto show.

The Hard Rock at Universal Walk (I think that's the name ...it's been a few years since I've been there) has the Beatle drum kit on the cover of the original Decca Tapes vinyl boot.

When I went on my Liverpool trip in June of 2001 I went to the Beatles Story museum at the Albert Dock. It's a great exhibit covering the Beatles' history, with a reproduction of the Cavern Club among other exhibits. As you end the tour you pass by the actual white piano John played 'Imagine' on. I understand that one of George's guitars has now been added sitting next to John's piano. In New York City, visit the Hard Rock Cafe on Times Square. It has a lot of Rock memorabilia to view, including the collard-less suits the Beatles wore, the acoustic guitar George played at the Bangladesh concert and the actual door of London Apple building, with Beatles graffiti scratched on it left by the fans. (Back cover of 'Ringo's Rotogravure' album)
