I'm ALWAYS ready for some football! Actually, basketball, baseball (Sorry Steve ), badminton and table tennis are things to do while waiting for the next football season to begin. A momentary lull in the action. GO CHICAGO BEARS!! GO COLTS! ;D

We'll get some sammitches, an arn, and a Terrible Tahl and tailgate before the game. ;D JCV

Congratulations to JMG and the Bears.
Man, what seems like deja vu from the playoffs, Marvin Harrison killls us with another fumble.
Orton look solid and I was very impressed with Chicago's #22 at running back. Manning was rusty and our defense needs to toughen up. I don't think the cameras ever panned on Grossman, did they, on the sidelines? What's his state of mind?
There is joy in Chicago as the "Monsters Of the Midway" are back!

I swear .. I am so so so tempted to make a sub-sub-sub board for all this football stuff. When's the damn Super Bowl so I can start counting the days until the end of the season.

There is no end to the football season, Steve. There's just a lull in the action called the baseball season. Get your ass on board...you're missing out on lots of fun!! ;D Seriously, Steve. It makes the season go quicker if you pick a great team to follow. However, I will not influence your decision. GO STILLERS!!!!JCV

I think he might have been eaten by a bear... The Chicago Bears, as a matter of fact. Nice win for the Bears on the road. Great win for your Steelers, BTW. Good job, Bears - da Bears n'at. And thanks, JMG. Looking forward to the Browns next week. ;D JCV

I didn't see your game, sayne, because that darned Hurricane Ike decided to descend upon us right as the Stiller game started! The electricity went out and I still don't have any power. They say maybe on Wednesday. I didn't know if the Stillers won or lost until the next morning (although I had every confidence that we would beat the Brownies, hands down!). I got to see about 15 minutes of the game. Did you see that weather? I heard it was just as bad in Cincy. But I did hear about the games. I'll have to read up later this week. I'm so busy right now, but I had to stop by! GO STILLERS!!JCV

Darn it. Had to lose sometime I guess. But to dang Philly! Haven't had time to read up, so hope everyone's teams did well. The New England game put a bunch of people out of our Survivor pool (including Mr. JCV ). JCV

Chargers win one! Now the question is: Are the Chargers back or do the Jets suck and anyone could have beaten them? Won't be able to tell for awhile.

Who does Peyton think he is? Eli? How's your heart doing? LOL! We were down by 17 points with what, less than 6 minutes left, and not doing anything. That is three needed scores. Then the Texas QB decides that he has to do everything and dives in the air to elude a tackle, not a smart thing for a tall, gangly slow guy to do as he gets popped hard and fumbles for an instant TD. Then the same guy later has no field awareness and gets stripped off the ball as he is scrambling which sets up another TD. Wow! That catch by Reggie Wayne in the end-zone was amazing! I was rather inebriated towards the end of the game as we were thinking it was a depressing loss so I'm a little fuzzy on how we scored the third TD but I know that there were a lot of awkward, drunken, middle-aged high fives going on! Was there an interception that set up a score? I swear I was watching it but I was so excited and buzzed.

Besides, if Sarah wants a real man, I'm "Tommy Twelve-Pack" and it sounds as if our friend superhans is "Carey Case" by his own descriptions of his pilsner consumption.

Whew! Chargers made it in. Woo hoo! Okay, we're frauds. Yeah, I know, there are a bunch of teams with records of 9 and 7 or better and NOT in the playoffs. Alright, call us pretenders. But, hey, we didn't make the rules. Also, there have been times when we have been left out, so what goes around comes around. There have been times that the best and toughest division was the AFC West and no one cried for the second place team not in the playoffs then. And, it's not like people didn't think at the beginning of the year that we wouldn't be in playoffs.
We did what we were supposed to do. Denver didn't. The Cowboys didn't, and neither did New England. Now there are 12 teams at 0 - 0. The race is on. Good luck everyone else who is in.

It is a shame that a NFL playoff game was determined by a dubious officiating crew.

It is a shame that a NFL playoff game was determined by a dubious officiating crew. I understand your disappointment, and I'm sure, unlike last year, you will be rooting against the Chargers because of how the game went. I know how you feel. The Chargers had their full share of bad officiating this year. Poor officiating were a part of their 4 and 8 record. earlier on. But, as for this game, Darren Sproles' 328 yards, the clear defensive holding and face-masking penalties during the overtime, and the quite odd running play in the 4th quarter, I think, when the Colts called a RUNNING play on a 3rd and 20 and got a couple of yards helped contribute to the loss, too. I think the Sproles' fumble in the end zone, and the quick snap/defense asleep touchdown by the Colts helped balance things out. If Sprole had not fumbled and if the Chargers defense had paid attention that would have been 7 points the Chargers would have had and 7 points the Colts wouldn't have had. There might not have even been an overtime. I think the Colts have themselves to blame, too. I empathize with you. I've been on that end many times.
