Everyone makes mistakes, Paul McCartney included. The former Beatle recently admitted that marrying Heather Mills is one of the biggest errors of his life. "I suppose it has to be a prime contender," McCartney told Q Magazine. "But I don't wanna down anyone."
Although the marriage may have been bad, McCartney does reveal that his six-year-old child Beatrice, who he had with Mills, was a highlight. "These things happen, y'know?" he said. "But I tend to look at the positive side, which is that I have a beautiful daughter out of it."
McCartney and Mills married in 2002 and divorced in 2008 with a £24.3 million (nearly $40 million US) settlement. While he never mentioned Mills' name during the interview, he talked about his new girlfriend, transportation industry executive and New York MTA board member Nancy Shevell, admitting that the relationship and spending time with his children were some of the best things about this century so far.
While there have been rumors that the 67-year-old musician will stop performing, McCartney said he has no plans of retiring just yet. "I have too much fun," McCartney said. "Why should I retire? Sit at home and watch telly? No thanks. I'd rather be out playing."

He put the transcript of the interview on his website to challenge the internet translations. Does it sound as negative as it's being written?

Read the actual transcript Steve, and yeah, the writer of the article was just focused on one thing for a sensational headline. The Heather comments were just a blip in the overall interview. www.paulmccartney.com/news.php#/1821/2009-12

Thanks for posting that, Fred! On a different note, Paul mentions that he's been with the same musicians touring for almost as long as the Beatles were together. which is something I've noticed, too. Were they all there at the concert for New York in 2001, or was it a different crew?

And many of the versions of this I've seen in the past few days are focused on that for outrage sake.

But I agree, the writer was just trying to create controversy.

I am an outspoken fan of Heather Mills f/k/a Lady Heather McCartney. I am disappointed that Paul would call a sacred marital union a "mistake" when it produced the beautiful, perfect little Bea, the last hope for a normal McCartney offspring.
I agree with OldFred and Steve that the writer is going for the unduly negative angle but Paul never should have taken that bait. Paul and Heather had some happy, important, exciting times that ultimately resulted in Beatrice. And you know that can't be bad!
Heather brought Paul back to life again after Paul lost Linda. She got him writing again, singing again, recording again and basically fighting again! For that she should have all of our gratitude(Paul even did a song on that!).

Heather's a piece of crap who put Paul through a lot of miserable shit. Only now does he appear robust and like himself again. .

I bet that Heather would be sweet to "admirers" (not "fans" as that is short for fanatic) who nicely ask for her autograph. In fact, two gentlemen like you or I might get some flirting from her. That's my kind of celebrity!
