I have a question of a somewhat technical nature, which I hope that the good citizens of Abbey Road can help me with... I have recently invested in a Tascam DP-004 four-track recording studio in order to record some musical doodlings on the lekky guitar and Mrs woolie's Casio keyboard. I've tried e-mailing my first, faltering recordings to a couple of mates, but the WAV music file which carries the song is too big an attachment (over 30mb) -- so I thought maybe I would just put this, and future recordings, onto a hosting site on the www so anyone can hear them. OK, so my question is this -- what's the best site to host these music files. Could it be a Facebook-type site, or does it have to be a proper, nailed on music site. I'm completely clueless, so if you think you might have a suggestion, try and pretend you're conversing with a three-year-old... Thanks, woolie.

First, change it from a WAV to an mp3. It'll take the file size down. As for where to host it, there are all sorts of file hosting services that charge you. One that I like that doesn't it yousendit.com. I believe there's a limit to the number you can send for free, but unless you plan on sending a lot, it won't matter. After you post it, I think you can post the link and we'll all be able to get it. You will need to be a member to do that, though.

Thanks for the info, Steve. So far, I've managed to convert my WAV file to an MP3, and have registered with a music file share site and downloaded my first, faltering recorded attempt. Here is a link to my recording... www.4shared.com/file/210448614/87e7cddb/Copy_of_MIXST002.htmlIf someone's brave enough could they try and download the file and see if it all works.
