Did anybody even watch on this board or even discuss it??? Are we so engrossed by the Beatles that we forget that there is a present time and place in itself?
The U.S posted the most medals ever in winter setting. The Russians are all pissed off because they use to post the most. It should be interesting the next time around, for they are being held in Russia.
Some thought please.

If Vancouver struggled with lack of cold and snow, wait till everyone get's to Sochi. I looked them up. They are a coast city on the Black Sea. They are roughly same latitude as Rome. It's considered to be a sub-tropical resort! Their average low temperature during the winter is around the 40's. The 40's! Can't have snow in that oven. Hope the Caucausus do their part. I also heard that having the Olympics in Sochi was actually a ploy by groups to get ownership of land grants. There is going to be soooo much theft that it will make Madoff look like a philanthropist.

My question to you is, can the former Soviets afford the machinery or manpower to make their own snow as the Canadians did? And can they maintain it for two weeks running? Anyhow, the Winter games have always been dominated by the Europeans and this is the first time that we clocked them. I am sad to say that you and none other on this board (excluding JCV) could not comment on such a ground-breaking achievement. Very sad!!!! Just my humble opinion.

I was very glad that the US did so well, but I didn't want to come across as gloating. However, my wife and I are glad that the Canadians got so many golds on their home turf, especially hockey.
