Yup, felt it here in LA. For me, it was a soft swaying motion, quite like being in a small boat on a calm lake - fortunately. I'm sure our San Diego board members REALLY felt it. Unusual for them. Here's a site I immediately go to when I feel an earthquake. earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/quakes_big.phpIt's interesting to see how many earthquakes happen worldwide all the time.

Hope our CA friends are all okay! Indiana, believe it or not, is on a major fault line called New Madrid Fault Line and we are expected to get a bad one in the Mid-West someday! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Madrid_Seismic_ZoneIn 1987 there was a pretty strong quake when I was a law clerk at my current firm and our building, built in the 1840's, was shaking for 10 to 15 seconds and it was disquieting. My thoughts to you CA folks where you live with this more often.

. . . Indiana, believe it or not, is on a major fault line called New Madrid Fault Line and we are expected to get a bad one in the Mid-West someday . . . Yes, in fact, I think the strongest earthquake ever in the continental United States took place along that fault. If you go to the US Geological Survey link I posted, go to "Earthquake Animation" on the far left column and click it. You will see a map of the United States. Click "Start Animation" and you will see sort of a time-lapse showing of all the earthquakes in the last 7 days. Obviously, California is full of them, but look at Oklahoma to Maine. You could almost draw a line from Oklahoma to Maine (the New Madrid Fault?) where the most recent earthquakes have occurred.

Mid-West tornadoes are scary things. Kinison told people to move out of deserts because nothing grows there. Much of CA seems pretty fertile although you guys must have deserts there too.

Have to say I agree with CS and I agreed with Sam Kinison on that subject. As for where to move? New York (meaning the suburbs, not the city ... so there's no need for exaggerated faux stereotypical comeback jokes about "dangerous Manhattan" or "rude Manhattanites" ). There are no regularly scheduled natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes. No extreme weather, four seasons every year.

As a kid, I always wanted to live at 148 Bonnie Meadow Road in suburban New Rochelle, New York, the suburb where Rob and Laura Petrie lived! While we never see the outside(well kind of the back porch from the kitchen set), it seems so peaceful yet hip. New York City is due for a killer hurricane of Biblical proportions.

Red shorts season, blue shorts season, green shorts season, and khaki short season.
