I've seen Ringo 3 times, and even though I'm not keen on his 2010 lineup, I thought maybe I'd get tickets because my kids would enjoy seeing him.
I looked up ticket prices and was shocked when I saw tickets priced at 142.10, 92.95, and 59.65. I thought for sure this was a mistake so I tried refreshing the page, accessing Ticketmaster a couple different times, and obviously it wasn't. NO WAY is this lineup worth 142.10 or 92.95. I checked other bands that will be playing this Summer and REO Speedwagon with Pat Benetar (not really a fan of either), probably a better concert, had a best seat ticket price was 92.00.
Richard Page - weak addition Gregg Bisonnette - Offers nothing of real value Edgar Winter & Gary Wright - Previous All Starr Bands, and offer nothing new in regards to music. Ringo's latest songs are in no way classics.
Give me a break!! Ringo would have to put together a FAR better lineup to charge those prices....
This was a very simple and quick decision for me... I'll Pass..

Ringo's loss as you are a devoted fan, cbox. I last saw Ringo live when he played a rare concert with The Roundheads in a show north of Chicago that was broadcast for "Sound Stage."
That's my favorite live memory of Ringo, a real Ringo Starr concert.

It's the same with many artists, including Paul. You can blame Barbra Streisand and The Eagles for the high ticket prices, they were among the first to charge an arm and a leg for concerts. It's getting to the point where non-affluent fans can no longer afford to go to concerts. I've got the cheapest tickets I could get for Ringo at Radio City as well as James Taylor/Carole King and Cheap Trick/Squeeze. Going to a live show is one of the fun parts of being a fan. With the prices going the way they are, it's just not fun anymore.

But they were the first ones I remember that jacked 'em up.

I blame us, the people willing to pay the ticket prices. It is a great example of the free market economy. If more Ringo fans decide that Ringo has outpriced himself, the tickets may ultimately be reduced as the promoters see serious decline in attendance thus decline in revenue.
Corporate world owns all the good seats to concerts but let major sections of the cheaper seats go unsold and even the A-list acts may be forced to lower prices.
But nope, we keep buying the tickets regardless of price so promoters will keep raising prices until they go too high and we stop. They haven't reached that point yet.

The general public is nothing more than filler to try and get rid of the cheap seats, and what few if any good seats remain. Many bands have set up fan clubs where they can get additional money in exchange for pre-sales, corporations buy several VIP sections, and a lot of the good seats are set aside for other promotions that allow pre sales such as credit card offers. The thought of spending close to 300.00 for 2 tickets, add in concert shirts, programs, food, drink would make that easily close to 400.00. Knowing I spent that amount of money for maybe 2 1/2 hours of entertainment would take all the joy out of the experience. I've got to hand it to the Go-Go's, this is their farewell tour (and I truly believe this will be their farewell), they have two relatively big names Belinda Carlisle and to a lesser extent Jane Wiedlin, I've checked some of their ticket prices $30.00. Their past few tours have been successful, and they could command a lot more than 30.00/ticket. Unfortunately, I think my concert days are over. I just don't like anyone enough to spend 150.00/ticket.

That would beat Ringo's current All-Starr band any day.

Yeah it's called the Happily Every After Tour. Belinda I believe lives in France now and I don't think she really has the desire to do it anymore. Jane and Kathy I think would like to keep going, not sure about the others , but you gotta have belinda. www.gogos.com/news.phpThis video might interest you it's a solo song by Gina Schock their drummer. The guy in the video (part of her band) is Ellen DeGeneres brother.

. . . I've got to hand it to the Go-Go's, this is their farewell tour . . . I'm seeing them July 24th at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. They are also doing some stops with the Lilith Fair tour. I really wouldn't be surprised if they did a final final final end of tour concert at the House of Blues or The Whiskey in LA.

. . . How can you not love these girls Hall of Famers in my book. Wrote a lot of their own songs, played most of the instruments on their albums, played live with no other backing musicians, influenced lots of girls to start bands (and boys, too), stayed together for decades, and they are hotter looking in their 50s than when they were younger.

. . Agreed! Their first album was played nonstop at my residence hall House in the Spring of 1982. I still keep close to my heart(and my nightstand) their RS cover where they appeared in their underwear. In the Fall of 1985, they came to Bloomington, Indiana to promote their third album. Three of us went and had a great time. I enjoyed watching Jane waltz around stage with this huge bodied guitar almost too big for her(it looked like something George Harrison played as a Beatle). The band played at I.U. Auditorium and after the show, my friends and I were walking back home along the north side of the building. Some guy came out of a side entrance and in an act of spontaneous enthusiasm, I slipped into the door before it shut. I soon found myself backstage and was delighted to be rubbing elbows with all of John Cougar Mellencamp's band who had watched the show and were calling on the ladies backstage as the hometown celebrities(I didn't see John Mellencamp himself). This was when Mellencamp was real hot so his band was received by the gals. I met all five of the women even though I had no backstage pass. I met them as they were coming out of their dressing room, being assembled in the corridor there for their exit out of the venue to their bus. Drummer Gina Schock was easily the nicest, going around that space and greeting everyone. She had a good firm handshake and was just a great lady, instantly likeable. Charlotte Caffey, songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist, was likewise gracious, actually engaging me in some banter about the show. Bassist Kathy Valentine was fighting a cold I remember and was subdued but accepted my compliments of a great show with a smile. Jane Wiedlin is very tiny in person but a bundle of energy and very hot. She was animated in conversation with some I.U. coeds and I slipped in a, "Great show, Jane!" which earned me a squeaky, mousy "thank you" from her as she carried on with two hot I.U. female fans. Belinda Carlisle was not mingling in the corridor like the others, she was sitting on a crate all wrapped up against the wall next to the dressing room door. She had her throat wrapped in a scarf or something, as if to protect her voice. She seemed aloof from the other women and was not engaged in any conversation with anyone. This was when she had lost weight and was looking really hot. I was too dumb to know that a peasant doesn't approach the queen. I meekly did and she watched me approach warily and I simply said something like, "Great show, you were amazing." She had a twinkle in her eye, mouthed "thank you" and to my ever surprise and amazement gave me a quick peck on the cheek which clearly signaled that the queen was done with me! ;D The best part of the story was at this point the Road manager starts yelling about leaving the venue, boarding the bus and for the band to gather within the security ring and the women do and I am right in this pile-up of rock stars, band assistants and private security and suddenly the doors fly open and I am de facto security helping push the crowd away clearing a path to the bus. As I am pushing back people to help the band get to the bus, my friends Scott and Denise are standing there waiting for the band and I can literally see their jaws drop as I exit with the band and entourage! ;D The Go-Go's get on their bus and my one and only concert security gig was over and I rejoined my friends. They were demanding a full accounting of my backstage adventures as we walked home to our residence halls. They still tell that story and I am glad they witnessed it as it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime things. Of course, I could never get that lucky at a Paul McCartney or Rolling Stones concert and in fact would have been forcibly ejected or arrested.

Okay, I am a hypocrite, weak, a sucker and a fool. If I was in Iran, I'd asked to be stoned. A good friend of mine convinced me to take my wife and meet him and his date for the Ringo Starr and All-Starrs concert Saturday, July 24, 2010 in Hammond, Indiana(near Chicago across the Indiana border). It sounded fun, I got caught up in the excitement and I bought two tickets at $122.00 each and with the venue charge, convenience charge and taxes, I got nailed for $287.00 for two tickets! In sober reflection, I am appalled at myself and Ringo for those charges. Wow, $122.00 a ticket for a guy who hasn't had a real hit record since 1975! I am such a sucker for this stuff. I'll never learn. Wrack my brain! The scariest thing is that I haven't told my wife! She hates Ringo's solo albums and at his All-Starr shows, she prefers the other artists(at least back when Ringo had good guests). My old high school/college friend who talked me into this better be witty and charming that night!

By the way, I'm not sure, but that Go-Go's Central Park DVD may be out of print. I bought a used copy on Amazon. It's fairly cheap there for the least expensive copies. If you want one, grab it while you can before the prices go higher.

I got caught up in temporary insanity. I am convinced Paul will come closer to Chicago than he has so far and I should have saved it for him, a true world-class performer. True, Paul would charge more than $287.00 for two tickets but that would have been a big chunk towards it. The show is at a casino which means no children, thank god. I've seen the little pissing and shitting urchins run around wild at past Ringo All-Starr concerts. I hate "family friendly" rock concerts.

Hee, Kip Winger, frontman and lead singer for hair band Winger, played in Logansport last night for $15.00. Winger was unjustly destroyed by incurring the wrath of Mike Judge from Beavis and Butthead but Kip Winger came from jazz musician parents, was in Alice Cooper's Band for years and was lead singer for some gigs later on for The Alan Parson Project. Winger had two multi-platinum albums so with this guy's history, I thought that $15.00 to see him at our acoustically terrific McHale Performing Arts Center(one of the only things my town ever got right) was a good value. I remember that Ringo's tickets were always very good value running between $45 to $75.00 in the 1990's.

You helped me nail a role I performed in a play last March and I am forever grateful. I am now pumped about Saturday night! Early in this Thread we cursed The Eagles for jacking up ticket prices around 1993-1994. In 2010, The Eagles have had to cancel some shows for poor ticket sales. That's justice. ;D As long as Ringo does some jumping jacks during the chorus to "Yellow Submarine" and shouts, "What's my name?!" then I will feel I got my money's worth.
