Is it time for The Beach Boys to call it quits? Today the only Beach Boys are Mike Love and Bruce Johnston. I saw them on Dancing With The Stars, and I'm pretty sure Mike Love was the only one there, although John Stamos was with him. Unlike Mick Jagger or Paul I don't think Mike Love's voice has held up very well. My opinion - it's time for Mike Love to call it quits with the Beach Boys

The Wilsons were the geniuses of that band and two are dead and Brian, the most brilliant, is no longer a BB. If Love had his way no Pet Sounds and without Love Smile might have been completed back then. Mike Love was okay early on but as the music grew more serious he was like a fish on the sand.

I saw the Love/Johnston line-up in an empty minor league park. They were pretty entertaining, but I agree that if love had his way- there would have never been Pet Sounds, and perhaps the Beach Boys would be taken much less seriously historically.
