For John, the original version of 'I'll Meet You Halfway'. (I'll have the hankies at the ready.) And here's the 'groovy' David with the Osmonds at Wembley. Wow, how beautiful is that I ask? Great Monday morning pick-up, thanks OldFred! I hoped that the video of David with the Osmonds would be vintage. I would die for a complete dvd of one of David's early 70's concerts, probably a show from England, although I wouldn't want the one where girls were crushed to death. I probably love Marie Osmond(and want her) just a little less than I do Pattie Boyd Harrison Clapton. I only like two songs by the brother Osmonds. I love "Morningside of The Mountain" by Donny and Marie.

My friend on the WABC Saturday Night Oldies Board sent me this message from the St. George Theater on Staten Island: Hey Fred, I contacted the St George after the show to say thanks for the concert and I sent her a copy of your review and just made it like, "I searched for review in paper online but only found this from a NY radio show board." LOOK AT WHAT THEATRE WROTE TO ME AFTER READING YOUR REPORT. And they know I do the fan club, that's how i was in contact with them. Here it is; That's great. I agree with everything he said too! David Cassidy was difficult to work with the minute he stepped out of his limo. Davy Jones was a pleasure and wants to come back! This time we'll leave David Cassidy at home. I can't believe his fans fly around the world to see him.As Artie Johnson used to say on Laugh-In: Very Interesting!

I kind of liked David Cassidy's voice and music (couldn't stand Donny Osmond though), but as an 11 year old-Cassidy on the show was okay - like an older brother.
As for the Shirley & David Meltdown bootleg AKA "Sweet Partridge Trax", Rueben sold the master tapes to Swinging Pig.
Supposedly Bonaducci's bass track was later overdubbed by Carol Kaye, but these bootleg tracks have Danny as raunchy as Syd Vicious.
Susan Dey's raw vocals make Linda McCartney sound like Aretha Franklin. Davy Jones was later recruited to overdub the little Partridge girl's tamborine, but you can hear it clean on this boot.
The best boot is an alternate take of Point Me in the Direction of Alberquerque, with a guest lead guitar by Eric Clapton. The other Partridges apparently were well behaved in the studio when David brought him in. ;D

I'm saddened to hear David Cassidy was such a pain. I agree with JSD, he should embrace his past and have fun! Sounds like you had fun at the concert, OldFred. Thanks for the review and all! One of these days, JSD, one of these days... JCV

Don't get me going on the PF drummer controversy. Why do great bands have drummer controversies, i.e., The Beatles, The Partridge Family, The Who(see discussion in Thread on Beatle Boys). Point Me in the Direction of Alberquerque kicks major ass regardless of the young turk on guitar.

Don't forget Spinal Tap with their own drummer problems.
For whatever reason my computer didn't show me the posts of Traci Partridge all grown up until I put in my post. Yikes.
And we haven't even touched upon the black sheep of the family, Andy Partridge...

This is the first time I've heard 'The Partridge Family' mentioned in the same breath with The Beatles and The Who in a discussion of 'great bands.' You're gonna have to help me out here, JSD.

I haven't even gotten started with the Archies-especially when Jughead went into rehab and was replaced by Shaggy-zoikes.

I think it's time for an intervention before JSD slips over the edge of reality into...The Twilight Zone. Rod Serling enters...

I'm considering making it a bannable offense. Quick, before it's too late. The Communists didn't see the fall until it was too late. American Native Americans didn't realize their land was being stolen until it was too late. And we are in the midst of being overtaken by people who are on par with Trekkies. Hurry, do something before we all get bodysnatched!

I can close my eyes and hear Rod Serling saying those words. Actually, I've been a Twilight Zone fan longer than a Beatle fan as I remember watching the show on it's first run (1959-1964). Fantastic stuff! A few clunkers here and there but overall a very solid show during it's entire lifetime. Unlike some of the Beatles stuff we'd all like to see released, The Twilight Zone is available on DVD.
