Wow! You really can see something new every day. How this pic has slipped through the cracks is beyond me. It is truly a unique shot. Thanks for sharing gripweed.

I have never seen a piano like that on stage with The Beatles in those early days.
Maybe they were going to do "Free As A Bird."

Lovely piano - but look at the well worn chair for it! What a contrast!

I've never seen that shot before. Fantastic! Oh...what I would give the have been on that roof on that January day back in 1969. Who would have thought that was the last time The Beatles would ever perform in public again?

I could be wrong but look at the hair and clothes.

I was fooled at first, too, thinking this was an Apple rooftop shot. But JSD is right... they didn't wear matching black suits on that day. (I also doubt they would've had George's 12-string Rick, his even older Gretsch, etc. at their disposal on the Apple rooftop.) Awesome shot, though! This must be at Abbey Road studios, right?

It could be Apple or Twickenham during the Let It Be sessions

The photo can't be from the 'Let It Be' sessions. Look at the hair length, it looks closer to 1965 or 66. Plus, they're wearing matching suits, so it is from the touring years.
The piano is another clue for you all, could be a concert where 'I'm Down' was played as the last song so it could be a 1965-circa concert. Plus look at the positions of each Beatle. For 'Let It Be' Paul would have been at the far right of the photo, in this picture he's at the center of the stage.
My guess is that it's a concert from the 1965-1966 touring period.

I think it's certainly a shot from an outdoor stadium concert on one of their later tours. My guess from instruments, clothes etc would be 65 US tour. I don't think the piano is theirs, I think it belongs to a support act. I don't know if John's keyboard is not there of off to the left of the picture. Ringo's drum doesn't appear to be on a riser as far as I can see which seems odd, perhaps that would give a clue to which show it is. I've been looking through concert pics and there aren't that many where they are on boards like this

Just a guess here, but it appears to be around 1965 or so. I've never seen the Abbey Road studio floor, but it could easily be a shot from the recording booth above. One could argue that they do appear to be in front of an audience, all facing forward, however there do not appear to be any vocal mikes in front of them. In either case the hair and the suits point toward 1965. Perhaps gripweed could site the source?

Could this be the Theatre segment of AHDN? The concert scene at the end of the film? The acoustic guitar on the side by John is interesting too.

If I remember right it's made of those small pieces of wood in zig zag, whatever you call it , parquet? I think they have stepped back from the vocal mics to bow etc. you can see two leads going to where the mics would be.

It could be Apple or Twickenham during the Let It Be sessions WHHHAAATTTTTTTTTT!!! ? They're obviously wearing their suits and are all lined up nice and stage-like, from the earlier years, man!

It can't be the end concert from AHDN (as OldFred said, the suits were a different shade there - lighter, to be exact) and there weren't all those wires nor any piano! But during other segments of AHDN they're wearing the darker suits ("IF I Fell" and "I'm Happy Just to Dance With You").
My personal guess (much like Cosmos') is that it's some ordinary stage show from 1965 (or it could still be 1964). It need not be some "historic moment" like AHDN, LET IT BE, or recording in ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS (and true, the floor of the studio was NOT like that one).
They're obviously in performance for an audeince. It's probably just some typical stage concert venue.

Look again at the hair length. It looks a bit longer than what they wore in 1964, so the photo has to be from a concert in either 1965 or 66.

Yeah, Fred -- when I wrote my last post I made note of the hair and that it was probably '65 or '66... but then looking back on it I figured that at some points '64 they looked like that (especially George). When we think of 1964 we tend to get images only of Ed Sullivan, Washington, and A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, but there are many other '64 venues and concert gigs where they don't look quite that way (Vancouver, Australia ...) .
