There are a number of reviews on the book on the Amazon.com website you posted. Just scroll down past the information on the contents of the book to the posted reviews. Amazon usually provides this kind of information for most of the books and CD's and DVD's it sells. The book is basically just a documentary or chronicle of what happened on that day, which happened to be a busy day for John what with the photo session with Annie Lebowitz, and the radio interview John gave, followed by the recording sessions for the planned follow-up album to Double Fantasy. What is tragic is no other fans hanging about The Dakota that fateful day noticed anything unusual about the animal that shot John later that night who was hanging around the entrance and asked for John's autograph as he was leaving the apartment for the recording studio earlier in the evening. If they had, perhaps the doorman might have had the police come and check him out. And the history of The Beatles would have had a completely different story from that moment on......

Thanks for pointing this out. I am going to get it.
December 8, 1980, was one of the most traumatic days of my life and I was just a John Lennon fan. Shudder the thought of being a family member or close friend.
I am horrified and haunted by 12/08/80 but also fascinated by it because it so knocked me for an emotional loop. It is my proverbial, "Where were you when it happened" moment that stands out like no other.
It is no exaggeration to say that what happened on 12/08/80 turned my heart pretty cold in ways I have never gotten over.
This book won't have answers but it lets me examine something that has held me emotionally hostage for 30 years. It's no good to pretend that it never happened.

I was just getting into the band when he was shot. I was a paper boy and like Bye Bye Miss American Pie where Don delivered papers with Buddy's face on the cover I did the same when John left the building.
