Good link fabtrick...
I was looking at the crossing on the live camera shot and then i was looking at the Abbey Road cover.Am i right in saying the cover shot is taken looking at the crossing in the opposite direction to the live camera..
I've also noticed the different line markings on the road in comparison to the cover...
It seems to be very busy road with lots of people using the crossing, probably both tourists and people going about their day's business......

They changed the line markings on crossings over here a few years back to give a zig zag effect approx 20-30 yards either side of the crossing. There are very few crossings like that left as most of them now are controlled by lights. A good time to watch it is Sunday morning local time. The road is a bit quieter then and you get lots of people trying to recreate the photo.

There's a similar live web cam from Matthew Street in Liverpool looking up the street where the Cavern is located. www.matthew.st/welcome.php

I'm meeting a fellow Beatles fan towards the end of this month - an American guy who is holidaying in the UK, an internet friend encountered via a comics website - and we're going to head up to St John's Wood and do the crossing.

Accordingly, the original Cavern Club is underneath where the car park is currently on Matthew Street. The current Cavern Club is right next to it. Paul refers to it on the 'Live at the Cavern Club' video.
