Anyone ever wonder, if The Beatles had recorded one more album together in 1970,what the tracklist would be? I would envision it as something like this:
Side 1: Mother Teddy Boy Isolation Beware Of Darkness Love Junk My Sweet Lord
Side 2: Remember Every Night Ooh You Working Class Hero Maybe I'm Amazed All Things Must Pass

I think the most difficult to call would be John's contribution. John's soul-bearing, 'confessional' mode, which characterised much of JLPOB, was largely brought about by a root-and-branch re-evaluation of his life after the Beatles split...
...if the Beatles hadn't split, I wonder if John's contribution would have been more akin to the songs on 'Imagine' -- it may even have included a couple of songs off that album, given that 'Gimme some truth' and 'Jealous Guy' were works in progress going back as far as 1968.
One thing your track listing demonstrates is that John and Paul would have been light years apart in terms of where their song writing was at -- gut-wrenching confessionals set against polished, nicely-crafted pop. I don't think such an album could ever have existed...

You left out a song for Ringo. Since we're saying 1970, we could either go with 'Sentimental Journey' or 'Beaucoups of Blues'.

I don't think Teddy Boy and Junk would have been on the album..
Their merit is summed up by the title of the 2nd song....
Paul would have written 2 much better songs than these around this time....

I think you would have seen more Ram songs... Uncle Albert/Admiral Hasley, Smile Away, Back Seat of My Car...all of which are way better songs, and probably not written that much later than what showed up on McCartney. McCartney brought Back Seat of My Car to the band during the LiB sessions. Replace Junk, Teddy Boy, and Every Night with those songs...and you got a pretty good album.
Plastic Ono Band is overrated in my opinion. I respect the confessional style of the songs, but the songs themselves are weak compared to Imagine...a bit boring.
I was thinking of doing "Dark Horse". It would be the Beatles last hurrah (despite that I think Abbey Road is the perfect end, anyway.) But that would be the name...sort of the answer to the White Album, a double album. I'm not a fan of Ringo's solo material, so I didn't include any, but I'm sure he would have 3 songs on the album at least. I put 29 songs down, so you guys could put his songs in wherever they fit. The album is made on the premise that they took a little while off, doing their own things, and came back after awhile to do it again. I kept How Do You Sleep? and Too Many People off the album, because of the subject material...but I'm sure the songs could have showed up with different lyrics.
1.) Mumbo 2.) Cold Turkey 3.) Imagine 4.) All Things Must Pass 5.) Maybe I'm Amazed 6.) Mind Games 7.) My Sweet Lord 8.) Jet 9.) What Is Life 10.) Blue Bird 11.) Jealous Guy 12.) I Dig Love 13.) Mamunia 14.) Back Seat of My Car 15.) Behind That Locked Door 16.) Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey 17.) Crippled Inside 18.) Give Ireland Back To the Irish 19.) The Lovely Linda 20.) Working Class Hero 21.) Helen Wheels 22.) Isn't It a Pity (Version 1) 23.) Oh, Yoko! 24.) If Not For You 25.) Heart of the Country 26.) Apple Scruffs 27.) Gimmie Some Truth 28.) Junk 29.) Mother

In 1979 I bought an 8 track recorder (not a multitrack music recording device, but for us older fogies, the clunker music medium that used to cut off music mid song to change channels). I did it (made a 4 solo Beatles collection) for 1970, then got carried away and did another 8 or 9 through the end of the decade. In the age of photoshop and CD burning, one can get quite carried away with this. www.beatlemoney.com/sliderindex.htm

Welcome revolution9!
Two thoughts on the inclusion of "My Sweet Lord" to such a fantasy Beatles' album:
1. John would not have performed on it and perhaps not even Paul for personal reasons. That in and of itself would not have kept it off such a proposed Beatles' album as the Beatles had often worked apart on songs for at least the last two years(before 1970).
2. What may have kept it off such a Beatles album is that John and Paul would have screamed at the comparisons to "He's So Fine." Both those guys had encyclopedic-like minds on past pop songs and one of them would have sounded the warning and put a foot down. A changed MSL might not have been such a monster hit.

Why is Ringo being ignored? In both the posts with song lists, not one Ringo song is included. Ringo had a lot of great songs during this period. I expect a do-over, Folks!

Yeah, but we are talking 1970. In 1971 it is a different story. I wouldn't want anything on SJ on a Beatles' album. I might vote for 'Beaucoups of Blues' but it was written by some Tin Pan Alley guy and The Beatles were beyond that by 1970. If you can't write a song, you're out of luck Rings.

Ringo would have had It Don't Come Easy available for the next Beatle project. As long as George was willing to polish it off with him.
I'm pretty sure it was recorded in 1970.
Speaking of that track, I might have heard this before, but in the latest Beatlefan Gary Wright and Ringo both state that Gary plays on It Don't Come Easy.

The Cassandra Protocol
1. Action stations 2. Heart of the matter 3. Cassandra's tears 4. Many reasons, many truths 5. Leave while you have the chance 6. I never cared 7. Please yourself
1. Ignorance is bliss 2. 12 days of summer 3. Grand opening 4. Keep off the grass 5. Breaking all the rules 6. Crippled Butterflies of Justice.
A great album (as usual) but with a distinct negative vibe. Yoko's influence quite obvious, and no-one quite understood the album title despite it echoing part of the lyric of the first track. The one thing all four were agreed on was that it was important to have an outlet for material which they felt didn't properly fit on a Beatles album, hence the solo albums which had come out the previous year.

Yeah, the My Sweet Lord one is a tough one. Good points JD. I wonder if it's possible that they could have gotten George to make changes to the song to the point where it wasn't a copyright issue. John has said that he suggested changes though. They obviously weren't taken by George.

I once did this and figured that each of the Beatles would do a solo album as their Beatles career continued. John would release his more personal confessional stuff (Mother, Working Class Hero, God) while Paul would do looser stuff on his own (Oo You, That Would Be Something, the instrumentals), George would have a single LP of his more religious stuff (My Sweet Lord, Hear Me Lord, Awaiting On You All) and Ringo would do his country LP (Beaucoup Of Blues). Then the Beatles would have gotten together and put out an album. Several of these songs they had actually worked on and many of the others are very "Beatlesque". My Track List: Side 1: 1. Gimme Some Truth 2. Another Day 3. Run Of The Mill 4. Jealous Guy 5. Teddy Boy 6. Beware Of Darkness 7. Back Seat Of My Car side two: 1. What Is Life 2. Love 3. Every Night 4. It Don't Come Easy 5. Remember 6. Maybe I'm Amazed 7. All Things Must Pass

Just wanted to say I disagree with a couple of you guys in that I think Junk is an excellent song, among Paul's gems, nice evocative lyrics, beautiful melody, and how can you not dig the harmonies and chord progressions on the choruses, and that gorgeous vocal flourish he finishes the short number with. Anyway, the answer to the question posed in the first post is: yes!

"Junk" is a good song and would have been perfect for The White Album. In fact, I wish it had made the cut over "Rocky Racoon" or "Honey Pie"(as I draw the ire of the RR and/or HP fans here).
