lol, yeah and "Pete Best" was the "stick" (for all the years he's coped) He's a hard man Mr George Martin, I like the guy, and I somtimes dislike him... To me Ringo, will always be the kindest, and most lovable member in the band..... Currently the Starr (IMO), is heading for "Mr Fountain Of Youth" (leaving Paul, Mick Jagger, and Cliff Richard behind...lol), so eating those bake beans from a can, were worth it...... ;D

Thanks for sharing that Sayne! This board doesn't get nearly enough of this sort of thing Looking at this positively, being simply called The Beatles' drummer is a pretty damn good accolade!

NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Do we call John simply the Beatle's rhythm guitar and mouth organ? Get Y Not! If we buy enough of these maybe we can encourage Ringo to release a Y Not Deluxe! And then maybe...dare I say it...Y Not super fan's special megadeluxe edition? We can dream....

I did buy Y Not and loved the duet with Paul and "The Other Side Of Liverpool." I have recently written that I like Ringo Rama now more than I once did. Am I forgiven?

If only the world at large could enjoy Ringo as much as we do John Hope you're enjoying Y Not, I thought it was a really good album, better than Liverpool 8 certainly.

. . . can't get no respect. The type of person who writes such a flippant description of Ringo as simply just "the drummer", is probably the same one that has concluded that Yoko broke up the Beatles. Each of the Beatles were the heart, soul, and spirit of the band. It was that mix of ALL FOUR that made them special. The writer of this might have called Ringo the "motor". Being a drummer myself, I know the great feeling of driving a rock and roll band. A good drummer has to keep time well, and then he/she needs to "kick" the band into gear when the song call for it. Pete Best was a good basic time-keeper - but that was about it. Anyone who wants to know why the band dumped Pete and brought in Ringo need only watch the vid I've linked below. This is why they wanted Ringo in the band:

And let us not forget Ringo's quick wit and charming sense of humor. Besides his fine drumming, he was quite the personality and clown. The Beatles would not have been the same with a solemn Pete Best and a solemn George Harrison side by side.

Yes, I think that Ringo's character was a PR asset to the group, particularly from 1963-1965.

Yeah, no disrespect to dissenting opinions at all but I thought that Mick was very good at the Grammy Show too.
