whether or not you agree with the wars- it is our troops on the front line volunteers all, who should get the same thanks and respect as our fathers, grandfathers and uncles who put it all on the line in other wars.
We have the freedom to post our thoughts and opinions where in other countries even to this day, you could be hunted down and shot for doing the same.

Too many Americans forget the reason behind Memorial Day and view it as simply a three day weekend of partying to kick off the Summer. I have been guilty of that before.
Specifically, Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service.
Regardless of politics, hopefully all Americans will take a moment to remember our fallen and better yet help the families of those who have lost a loved one in a war. In my small town, a war death is a big deal and the whole town comes to a halt to pay respect when the funeral procession drives through town heading to the final burial site. Our community always generously gives to the families of those who have paid the highest price.
Have a fun, sometimes somber, and always safe Memorial Day!

I just came across this thread. I know this is belated, but I agree with all the above posters. Fred, that was very touching. Thanks for posting that!
