Where do you think John would have taken his music had he lived? Would he have done like Paul and tried everything or would he and Yoko continued experimenting?

I would hope that John stayed firmly with pop/rock. Yoko has popped off and said that John would be hip hopping if alive.
That would have been terrible as John would have been out of his element badly.

I think John would have been experimental, Walking on thin Ice sounds wicked even today.
I think he would have mixed it up, some straight ahead pop/rock and some experimental stuff with Yoko.

I agree. I think the two of them would have done both. It would have been very interesting. Probably more interesting than Paul's Fireman.

Fireman was boring, I think Paul could have done alot better with that.
Rinse the Raindrops is the only time Paul did something musically experimental and accessible at the same.
Paul's experiments are more subtle, you probably have to know about song structure and chords progressions to get it, like when he talks about Jenny Wren.

I just posted on another thread that I firmly believe that John was set for a career renaissance after the fine start to his comeback with his songs on STARTING OVER and the ones that ended up on MILK AND HONEY. I believe he was set to produce his best work since his 1965-67 peak because he was again inspired and he was writing songs and recording music because he wanted to, not just because it was his job. I think he would have done some experimenting, but he always would have returned to basic rock.

John would have gone off in all kinds of great directions. I think he would have been politically motivated, with so much going on in the world today.

It's hard to Imagine . IMO, Lennon's solo career was so lackluster up to 1980, after Double Fantasy he might have just faded away again. Who knows? After his work with the Beatles I expected so much more from John. I just wish Lennon were still here with us to have written the story. As Beatle fans or John Lennon fans, the potential for some great music was taken away from us way too soon.

It's anyone's guess as to what John would be doing now, but I DON'T agree with Yoko that he'd be Hip Hopping!
I would have bet on Paul doing that before John.

With the technology available, the possibilities would have been endless. The one thing that probably wouldn't have change is John's straight ahead mode of rock and roll. He HATED production.
