It would be nice for the Cubs' fans to do what the Red Sox finaly did a few years back!

Well, the Phils clinched the Eastern Division. Let's see how far they make it in the playoffs....if they have to lose, I hope the Cubs win, anyway.

As a forlorn Padre fan, good luck to the Phillies, Cubs, Brewers, and Doghairs. Watch out for us next year, though. We ended the year on a one game winning streak. It's last to first, baby!

No way, baby! Giants will kick the Padres up and down the coast. ;D And I want a Cubs-Bosox series. And a Red Sox repeat!

Former Mets' pitcher Aaron Heilman was traded to Seattle but now traded to the Chicago Cubs to the joy of us in Logansport, Indiana as Aaron is our hometown hero. This is like having Aaron home again. I know he had a rough year last year in New York but baseball is so mental and not just physical that I think a change of scenery will do this guy well. Here are some local articles from our hometown newspaper about this: www.pharostribune.com/localsports/local_story_030004507.htmlwww.pharostribune.com/localsports/local_story_029002146.htmlLogansport, Indiana is a dying town of under 18,000 population. We were once a thriving railroad hub, strong and vigorous. Before that, the Erie Canal came right through Logansport. We had a water bridge where the Erie Canal went over the Wabash River. We were a melting pot of German, Irish and then Italians. Being a railroad town, there was always a fascinating seedy side to Logansport. Our houses of prostitution, "The Line," were known throughout the U.S. The Madams here were colorful and very civic minded people. They were not shut down until around 1982. It was rather a loss, I take it, to the unique charm of this city. The railroad is mostly gone too. Also adding to our strange history is the large State Mental Hospital located here. It was once the dark, forbidden kind of place one thinks of for 19th Century mental health hospitals. The museum there is interesting, including the cages put over some "inmates" heads. It is said that Logansport had the choice of what would become Purdue University or the State Mental Hospital and our city's forefathers thought there was more future in the mental health hospital. Great choice as Purdue here would have remade us! Because of the hospital's large client population, many "interesting" families move here to be near their loved ones in the hospital! Things are pretty interesting around our 24 hour restaurants and other hangouts. Anyway, this Heilman story is nice as he is an outstanding young man. He was an All-American baseball pitcher at Notre Dame after leaving Logansport and is just an all-round nice guy. He has been a Cubs' fan his whole life so this is a nice development for him. Go Cubs, go Aaron!
