I was watching NFL pregame this morning and heard this, "This 9/11 moment is brought to you by Burger King." Just now I saw a Budweiser commercial with "We will never forget" followed by their logo. I think the commercial would have been more effective if they had just ended with the horses bowing, then fading to black. We'd get the message.
Yes, we were all touched and impacted by 9/11, and we were all personally hurt in a "human we are all brothers and sisters" terms. I bet the degree of separation was well below 6 for most of us. I don't need the endless chant of 9/11 to give me pause to remember, and I don't need TV specials.
When I pay my respects to the innocents and brave of that day, this is how I choose to honor them:
Am I making 9/11 political? Sure, but that was done 10 years ago. We had our chance to rally the world for good, but we blew it. Just as Bono, with hubris, said they were taking back Helter Skelter from Manson, it's time we take back 9/11 and do good - in memory of those we've lost.

sayne, this discussion isn't appropriate today. This thread is being locked. Keep the discussion in the "where were you" thread and on topic. I hope that's clear to you and everyone.
