Nobody has this yet?
I got my copy in the mail yesterday. It's a beautiful book with lots of excellent photos. Quite a few of the pictures were taken by George himself. It seems he had a camera at the ready for much of his adventures.
The text is comprised of quotes, mainly from George, but also from Paul, Ringo, Clapton. and others.
It's fine as an accompaniment to the documentary, and will look nice on your coffee table. That pic of George in the blue water that's on the cover is gorgeous.

I'll still probably get it before the DVD is available in the U.S. (Even Santa can't help me there.....) (But a bootlegger could...)

Olivia writes a good column but then she hoses us fans with a documentary on a premium channel that very few will see and has been remarkably lazy as to George's archives these past ten years. I am not buying the book because I don't feel like lining Olivia's pockets any further. She can pretend to be as Zen as she wants but baby she's a rich man too.

I was looking at the book today. It seems quite good. I was pleased to see several photos I hadn't come across before, since several are George's own personal photos.

I got the book last week. There's some beautiful pictures in there. There's also a lot of pointless blank space padding the book out. The book could have been half the size and a few less trees would have had to go towards it and still held the same amount of info.

But your coffee table would have seemed a whole lot more naked.

Bookstores seem to be going the route of "Record" Stores so I have not seen this book yet. Gloi's observations don't really fire me up to go look for it either.
Maybe as a holiday present.

There are all sorts of reports that books are dead, records, CDs, DVDs, etc... but my area just gained a new Barnes & Noble store, with two floors and escalators - a nice cafe and reading area! I saw the George book in there! (and with my recent return to Vinyl collecting, there are at least 5 stores in my general location dealing in New and Used Records!)

LOL, but you live in NYC and I live in Logansport, Indiana where men are men and sheep are nervous. We have to go to Super Wal-Mart for dvds or cds and I refuse to buy them there. We lost our only bookstore years ago. From my point of view, it's the end of the world as we know it!

They have this thing called Amazon.com now for books or CD's or DVD's. and everything else electronic as well. Doesn't matter whether you live in Trump Tower in NYC or outer Siberia, they will get what you need (usually cheaper than any brick & mortar store) and send it to you even if you live in an igloo or grass hut. That's why bookstores are disappearing like pay phones, & typewriters.

There may indeed be a lack of stores in your area, but from your comments I was getting that you think bookstores are gone ALL TOGETHER (but this is a common fallacy these days ;D ).

But I would need a computer, right? lowbasso, I am old-fashioned in many respects and I miss the record stores and book stores. In Bloomington, Indiana I'd hit Karma Records or Ozarka Records and how about the White Rabbit for books and posters? I can't hold this George Harrison book in my hand on amazon.com and make that 60 second decision whether I want it or not. Of course when I buy it, I want it factory sealed so no one else's greasy hand-prints are all over it. I use the water-less hand sanitizer on my hands before touching store display books so I don't leave my marks! Courtesy, that is(my wife calls it obsession.).

The old bookstores (not Borders or Barnes & Noble) were great places to spend an afternoon and I remember those places you mentioned in Bloomington as I haunted them as well in the 70's when I was a student there. Nowadays, when you see a book you want in Barnes & Noble, you look at it in the store, then go home and order it for less money from Amazon.....Or as my wife now does; she has a Kindle, so she just downloads her books onto her Kindle to read for a fraction of the price of a real book.

In my case I was able to look through it at Barnes & Noble, and then put it down again figuring I don't need it, and that I've got enough un-flipped-through Beatles-related books to last me a lifetime!

Anytime a record store is mentioned in a magazine, Rolling Stone, Spin, what have you, they always mention ear-X-tacy in Louisville. They closed down the weekend before last.
The bookstore in the mall near me just went under. That's where I used to get my magazines. I mean Rolling Stone you can get anywhere but where do I get my Uncut and all the other international magazines that have special Beatles articles or what have you.

I'll be given the George book on Monday by the wife.....birthday present ;D Gee, I got a lump of coal from my wife on my birthday. She refuses to add to my Beatles c.d., dvd and book collection. She wants me to get rid of it and replace it electronically as much as I can. I must say I am reading my 1981 reissued paperback of Lennon Remembers with the cool cover shot of John at "One To One" and the back having that awesome 1980 b & w photo of John and Yoko in their cool sweaters but the print is so small my aging eyes are having trouble reading it. On Kindle I could magnify the print if I could find the book electronically. A sample of my 1981 reissue of LR and the version I am trying to read. I have a later reissued version with bigger print but it is buried in my overgrown book shelves with double and triple rows of books on each shelf(why my wife hates my book collection).
