On this day 29th Nov in 2001, former Beatles guitarist George Harrison died in Los Angeles of lung cancer, aged 58. Following the breakup of The Beatles, Harrison had a successful career as a solo artist and later as part of the Traveling Wilburys. George was the youngest member of The Beatles (16 when he joined), and went on to release the acclaimed triple album, All Things Must Pass, in 1970 More at tinyurl.com/c7rcoux

RIP George!
I learned about George's death the morning of November 30, 2001, when The Today Show opened with a clip of George from the 1967 "All You Need Is Love" broadcast. My television sound was off so as not to wake my wife as I dressed but seeing George's image starting the show instantly told me he was gone.
That was Friday, November 30, 2001, so that is the day I associate with George's death just because I learned of it that day.
It has been a long ten years in some ways, a blink of the eye in other ways.

And I got a phone call in the middle of the night from a friend back East. I think it was about 3 a.m. I'd been doing a running story on the Abbeyrd site following reports of his illness. I immediately got up and wrote everything I could find for the next several hours.
Miss him, miss him, miss him.

I have a feeling George is resting in infinite, beautiful peace. We miss you Hari. Ditto that. George and John have had ten years now to add quite a few Lennon/Harrison songs to the catalogue. Paul & Ringo will have their hands (and wings) full when they hit the Pearly Gates for the really big Reunion in the Sky! What a concert that will be......... RIP George.
