"Baby's Request" was available on the Target version with the two exclusive tracks. I just played that the other night! I prefer the Egg version with the horns and such. No Ringo for me this year although my wife wanted to go. No reason, I just didn't get tickets for the Hammond, Indiana show. Ringo does look great and sounds great. See this is where Ringo gets the last laugh! Though not nearly the singer like John, Paul and George, Ringo's voice is kind of rough but never changes! ;D Ringo still sounds like the records! But JSD, Hammond, IN is Ringo's only gig in the Midwest on this tour. You MUST go.

Two days ago my nephew sent me an email reminding me: "And one week from today we will be seeing Mr. Ringo Starr in concert!".
It really snuck up on me quickly. So this coming Friday the 22nd, I will see Ringo with Alex (my 20-year-old nephew), and we'll be sitting closer to the stage than I've ever been at any Ringo show. It's outdoors at the Jones Beach Theater, so I just hope it doesn't rain.

Ah choices! Ringo plays in Boston Tuesday night but that is also when the Red Sox start a new homestand. Tickets are available to both.
My friends, one of which a Ringo fanatic, tell me to go to Fenway Park and see the Red Sox because I can catch Ringo anywhere.
At this point I agree. What do I do Tuesday, go to Ringo or see the Red Sox? Both events are at the same time.

Just like a wife, let's not pick just one of two expensive events, let's do both!

I've read that if it rains, you're screwed -- this is a "Rain Or Shine" event...

Here in Boston it is going to be beautiful for Ringo tonight and last night I ate next to the venue. It is beautiful, intimate and next to the Harbor! Sadly, my wife and stepson determined that I am going to the Red Sox game at historic Fenway Park. JoeK and I sometimes spar but just think if I quit being Hoosier John and moved to Boston! Then Joe, we could really spar about stuff like baseball, who has a better city, etc. ;D Hey, I am already an expert on Boston's train system!

Well, it's Friday morning and in about 14 hours I'll be seeing Ringo outdoors at Jones Beach.
The weather report? "Strong to Severe Thunderstorms This Evening".

Joe, listen to The Beatles' "Rain" and Paul's "Mamunia" and "Driving Rain" and then the rain won't seem bad! But in all seriousness, if there developes strong or severe thunderstorms, get your nephew out of there. I was macho last August 13, 2011, and thought that storms didn't scare me or could effect me but my refusal to leave that concert venue when first asked by my wife to leave meant I exposed her and myself to the horror of witnessing the stage rigging collapse at the Sugarland concert. It still bothers us and my wife won't ever go to another outside show, the least of the lingering effects that show has on her(us). Just be safe Joe is all I'm saying. Ringo will be back if the show is postponed. As to Red Sox or Ringo who were both options I had this past Tuesday while in Boston, we did neither. My stepson could not score Sox tickets for three and we wanted to all sit together(I offered to sit apart so my wife and her son could sit together but it didn't pan out). My 27 year old stepson was adament about not seeing Ringo and while my wife now likes Ringo and thinks he's hot, it was an outdoor concert and she will not do those as mentioned above. We did sit in a cool Irish bar(with real Irishmen behind the bar) in my stepson's Somerville, MA drinking beer and watching the Red Sox on a high definition television. That was fun too! ;D And cheaper!

The concert isn't until 8:00, and on the surface things look clear now -- though the news reports that while the worst is ended, there still may be some showers. As much as I hate letting my guard down and being overly-optimistic in life in case I get disappointed ... I think it'll be okay, whatever happens... I think we ducked the worst of it... No comment!

Wasn't going to see Ringo this time around 'cause the line-up was too stale and boring for me, but I just got an email from Goldstar ( is it a national company?) that sells discount tickets - usually at the point that it looks like sales are slow. Well, I thought, "What the hell." I'm going by myself to the Greek in Los Angeles, the last stop of the tour. $27 total to see a Beatle. Can't beat that. It will be a pleasant night.

I always get really drunk at Ringo concerts. It takes my edge away when Ringo does his "Peace and love" shtick with the flashing peace signs or the "What's my name!?" The alcohol gets me in the spirit. It keeps me from heckling.
Plus, I don't mind a bathroom break because there is absolutely no variance in Ringo's setlist and how many times can one see him do "Boys" without it getting old hat?
Paul McCartney had some great bathroom songs where one doesn't miss anything like "Dumbing Up"(Coming Up) or "C-Moon." LOL, not to restart arguments but Paul's 1989 "all-white" version of "Ebony and Ivory" with boring old Hamish Stewart was the concert bathroom break hall of fame song.

I understand wanting new material for Ringo's concerts, but when you think about it, if we're fans, how is it so "torturous" to see and hear Ringo perform BOYS 'live' once every two years or so? (It's not like we're watching him every night of the year).

Hamish and Robbie were streets ahead of the two clowns permanently parked in the current line up...Those two couldn't carry a vocal harmony at a primary school concert....

But you're right, the "peace and love" shtick and the "What's my name" does add to the concert experience. Imagine that dumb Bob Dylan just comes out and plays music for 90 straight minutes without saying more than "Thank you." "Boys" creeps me out because it does kind of sound like the Jerry Sandusky theme song...."Well I talk about boys now, like a bundle of joy!" I'd rather have Ringo sing "Your Sixteen" as in Indiana at least the age of consent is............ 16!

In 2005 every new song from Chaos was the bathroom break song and that's when I got mad becasue that was, in my opinion, Paul's greatest solo album since WWL or RRS.

Now that I think about it, the "What's my name" was only done once in 2010 when I last saw Rings but man, the "Peace and love" was done more. I do like when Ringo blows obnoxious fans crap, the ones close to stage who scream all night, even when Ringo is talking, to sign some damn piece of junk they bring to the concert. At the Soundstage show with the Roundheads filmed for television and dvd, Ringo ripped a woman who kept screaming for him to sign some piece of crap she brought, "Like I am to stop the whole concert to sign your bloody album cover!" Go Ringo, that shut the obnoxious fan up! At the Ringo concert I saw in Hammond at the casino(my last one), some other woman wanted to give Ringo a verbal message and Ringo, sick of her yelling while he tried to talk, let her say what she had to say and she choked, like she suddenly had dog crap in her mouth, and Ringo mocked her to our applause. Another self-important, obnoxious fan shot down by Ringo! ;D Paul is in bigger arenas so he is not as close to the fans as Ringo but he is more polite to the obnoxious screamers, winks at them and says "I see you" but moves on. Not Ringo, he mocks or scolds them as he should! 7,000 other fans aren't there to hear how clever one fan thinks she is.

I specifically complained of Ringo not signing autographs to semi-polite fans who bump into him in public places when he is not otherwise engaged in a private matter. I have never supported the obnoxious Beatles fans who think Ringo or Paul must stop in the middle of a concert just for them and sign the drumskin or album cover they foolishly brought to a concert! That is rude to everyone else.
