I did not see this one on the shelf and I just went book shopping this past week using X-mas gift cards I had been hoarding like a squirrel does nuts. I am afraid that Best Buy and Barnes and Noble won't be here next Holiday. At Barnes and Noble I actually saw the remixed and remastered Mind Games c.d. from the early 2000's and I almost bought it even though I already own a copy. It is rare to see those anymore, especially after the most recent round of Lennon re-issues.

Great book! One of my favorite lines: Lennon is sort of apologizing to one of the studio musicians for being such a mediocre guitarist and musician, and the studio musician deadpans: "You do other things well."

Yes, an excellent book. And not a rehash at all. I learned lots of new things about John, DF and those years. Must read for any John fan.

Has anyone here read "You Never Give Me Your Money"? As just about every book on The Beatles shortchanges their solo career, I was thrilled to read one that goes into the detail that this one does on the "post '60s" Beatles. Of course, the book can be very hard on all 4 of them, but most of it felt pretty fair and evenhanded. Don't know if a thread already exists on this book, but it would provoke some pretty good debate.

I bought it from Amazon, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. It looks good, though.

Haven't read it, but I read (and reviewed, under the "Books" part of this site) Peter Doggett's book There's A Riot Goin' On. I also read his utterly wonderful book, The Art and Music of John Lennon, which is absolutely essential, and closes the door on any musical analysis of John's solo career (albeit Doggett, unlike George's biographer Simon Leng, is not very musically knowledgable). I don't know why that Lennon book isn't very well known because it's the best one I've ever come across!

This is big, this is must buy, Sean Lennon has remastered Unfinished Music 1 & 2, Two Virgins and Life With The Lions and they are out on new vinyl!!
Hurrah! From Pop Market:
"Two of history's greatest lovers - Lennon & Ono - two incredible LP's, remastered from the original tapes by their son, Sean Lennon. Get these at an exclusive popmarket only bundle price - you need these!"
The two vinyl albums are sold together for $44.99. Original artwork in place including for Two Virgins!
Only 12 hours left. I want to hear these in Sean Ono Lennon remastering! I bet the sonics are great!

I already own the original vinyl records just for collecting purposes, and I don't play those. One thing that is of note here is that Sean will be spearheading this, which makes me wonder if Yoko is out of the picture and John's legacy is now being handed down to his son? I read some fans saying that Yoko looked very frail and out of it recently at the Ron Howard film premiere.

Joe, I had the same thought at first but these are remastered by Sean so the sound should be terrific. I thought of you too because these are on vinyl. It is good to know that these two albums are updated sonically and available!
I also read that Yoko recently looked frail and very quiet at the EDAW premier. Sean is probably assuming more and more duties with the Lennon Estate.

There will be a time when the Lennon brothers do not have any parents left(that is true for Julian right now) and maybe they can then truly live in brotherly love and not be drug into wars caused by their respective mothers. Each Lennon brother has a lot to be thankful for as to his respective mother as Cynthia loved Julian dearly as Yoko does Sean. But someday Julian and Sean will have only each other and who knows, there may be great Lennon music made again.

My guess is up in heaven right now, John has a band going with George on lead guitar, Stuart on bass. John & George have three albums worth of Lennon/Harrison songs ready to go and George Martin is ready to start recording. Just waiting on Ringo. Maybe Paul will have to apologize to Stuart and George and re-audition before John lets him into his band up there..... And Cynthia has been enjoying spending some time listening to the band practicing and getting re-acquainted with John.......

LOL, and Linda and Maureen are there and Linda has gotten a lot better on keyboards! Eppy is there but Allen Klein is in that other place! I do hope that someday Julian and Sean are even closer than they are now! They seem to get along well when it is just the two of them.

I'm sure that Keith Moon or John Bonham (or even Dennis Wilson!) can fill in on drums until Ringo can join them! As the song said, "If there's a rock and roll heaven, they've got to have one heck of a band!"
