It ain't over till it's over. Maybe they can pull a reverse 1984. AAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Late last night the game's announcers were talking about 0-2 comebacks and not one mentioned the Cubs' own 1984 collapse. Of course the Padres came home for Games 3, 4 & 5. We have our work cut out for us.

That's all it really is - just a series of single games.

WTF? So much for "Subway Series 2008" or the Cubs winning it all exactly 100 years after their last World Series Championship. Thanks though, sayne, for your optimism! It is appreciated.

Especially on the Cubs side of town. The White Sox barely got in the playoffs so expectations weren't quite so high. On the other hand, the Cubs had a great season, expectations were sky-high. If the Cubs don't go deep into the playoffs there's going to be a lot of very disappointed Cub fans, myself included. And the one hundred year thing just adds gasoline to the fire.

I notice this thread has been quiet today. Sorry, JMG. And of all the teams the Cubs have to lose to, it's the damn Dodgers!

On the same night, within 12 miles of each other, we had USC playing at the Coliseum, the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, UCLA at the Rose Bowl, and the "Cherry, Cherry" on cake, Neil Diamond at Staples. It's good to live here --- sometimes.

Congratulations to the L.A. Dodgers and their fans. They swept the Cubs fair and square and deserve to move on in the MLB playoffs. And now...on to NFL football!! Yesterday, the Chicago Bears defeated the Detroit Lions 34-7 to take sole possession of first place in the NFC North! I know it's only the Lions but a win is a win. And it came along just in time.

I'm not one of those Cub fans that worships Wrigley Field. If I had my way it would have been torn down years ago. For those of you who have never been to Wrigley, it's located in an old-time residential/shopping area with no handy parking and miles from a main highway, like I-90, for example. It's a pain in the neck to get in and out of. Concessions and restroom facilities are nothing short of a joke. Wrigley Field is an old old-time baseball stadium that has long since seen it's better days and should have been replaced long ago. Time moves on, with the prices people are paying these days to attend a Major League Baseball game, they have every right to expect a nice modern stadium.

You are squashed up against one with guys pressing you in on both sides and since it is summer, you got shorts on and you walk away with your legs soaked from the urine splash of all the other dudes around you. It just hangs on the hairs on your leg. Hell, I go back to my seat and pour a good half of a beer over my legs just to kill the germs!

Those urinal troughs are the worst, I come out of there feeling like I want to take a shower. It might have been the way things were done back in 1937 but today, I consider it sub-human. Give me a modern facility any day of the week.
