BEATLES 65 (SIDE 2)
Wow, this was harder than I first thought. I almost went with the other but I really don't care for "Devil In Her Fart" although George doesn't really shine either on ETTBMB(he did it much better years later on the Carl Perkins' special in the mid-80's).

BEATLES 65 (SIDE 2) 1. Honey Don't 3. She's A Woman 4. I Feel Fine 5. Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby
THE BEATLES 2ND ALBUM (SIDE 1) 1. Roll Over Beethoven 2. Thank You Girl 3. You Really Got A Hold On Me 5. Money
Tie game.
Honey Don't and Everybody's Trying are pretty much the same song but She's a Woman and I Feel Fine are too good to lose.

A pretty good matchup. On this side of BEATLES 65 we get the excellent single "I Feel Fine" and the OK flip "She's A Woman", two cover songs from BEATLES FOR SALE and one from A HARD DAY'S NIGHT. Also worth noting is that this side of BEATLES 65 gives us a lead vocal from each Beatle plus one of the best John/Paul combo compositions "I'll Be Back" (it has not one, but two excellent middle eights!). The Carl Perkins covers are OK, but not standouts. This side of THE BEATLES 2ND ALBUM gives us four from WITH THE BEATLES plus an early B side and a track from A HARD DAYS NIGHT. "Money" rivals "Twist And Shout" for the title of best cover and "Roll Over Beethoven" is not far behind. I like "Devil In Her Heart" and "You Really Got A Hold On Me" has a nice vocal. The version of "Thank You Girl" here is superior to the one from the UK as it has more harmonica at the end. "You Can't Do That" shows John's tough side. So this is a tough vote. The two best songs are clearly "I Feel Fine" and "I'll Be Back". However the entire side of THE BEATLES 2ND ALBUM I like more than the others on BEATLES 65. And on the nostalgic side THE BEATLES 2ND ALBUM was the first Beatles album I ever heard (my mother bought it) So my vote goes to THE BEATLES 2ND ALBUM (SIDE 1) and that gives it a current lead of 4-3.

BEATLES 65 (SIDE 2) Gee , these Capital Records releases had some strange song groupings, glad i was privy to the original releases.... ;D Yeah, you imagine being an A and R for Capitol back in '62. Sure, we'll work with the Beatles. Give me everything you got. Three Cool Cats, Youndblood, Sheik of Araby, Love Me Do, PS I Love You, Like Dreamers Do.... I put together the imaginary first album. It was 14 songs and still only 30 and a half minutes.

I vote "Beatles 2nd Album". With "Roll Over Beethoven," "You Really Got A Hold On Me," "Devil In Her Heart" and "You Can't Do That," you have an incredibly strong lineup.

I went with SECOND ALBUM 1, for a simple reason.
"I Feel Fine" is the top track of the eleven, but "You Can't Do That" is pretty close. "Roll Over Beethoven" is the best cover, but "Devil In Her Heart" is a bit of a drag. "She's A Woman" was a better add of a B-side than "Thank You Girl." So, the simple reason I took SECOND ALBUM 1 is that it has six songs on it. There was plenty of room for 65 2 to have a sixth track, but Capitol hosed the Americans again.
