OK, here goes. I did toy with the idea of including the Veejay album - it does have EMI tracks on it - but I figured that the logic would mean that I would also have to include the various incarnations of the Kaempfert and Decca audition albums, because tracks from them have appeared on EMI Beatles albums. So I have stuck with Beatles albums released by EMI, with recognised individual release trade dress.
RULES: vote for a single entry to be eliminated. In the event of more than one entry tied with the most votes, all tied entries will be eliminated. IMPORTANT: please give your reasons - a vote without a reason WILL NOT BE COUNTED!!!!!

What about the Butcher Cover? So many people (including myself) peeled back my Yesterday & Today Capitol album trunk picture to reveal the original butcher underneath. And The Beatles originally intended that photo to go out, so I think it has to be included.

The Butcher cover escaped. Even though it featured on the interior of the US Rarities, and even though the Fabs wanted it out, its fleeting appearance was a cock-up and it was recalled. It doesn't form part of the selections.

LOVE SONGS
Stupid cover art! They look like they couldn't care less about love!
I like the cartoonish covers like Reel Music and Rock and Roll Music. I never look at those and they're still a novelty to me.

I'll go with the BEATLES BALLADS; I think I have only held it in my hands once and was not impressed with the artwork at all.

Just asking ... anyone have trouble with seeing images through their connections? Just curious. Steve, at my Office the images come out perfect but here at home they start large but then slowly get reduced per that photo reduction tool you added. By the way, that photo reduction tool you installed(or activated) is great to keep the Threads properly aligned! Folks, please do not quote my post with all of the album photos as that will make us have to scroll miles and miles. I added them as a helpful tool so we could view every album cover at play. You can see lowbasso quoted it fortunately when I still had many more covers to add so it isn't as long as my finally modified post. What I'll do is cut and paste my post each new Round, eliminating the album cover that gets nuked the round before. Vectis, this is your baby so weigh in but I thought it was fun to have each album cover still in the running at our fingertips! They are all in right now so I hunted them down. P.S. Ha! I just fixed the photo for The Beatles Box(the original one) so it shows now.

Wrong graphic for The Beatles Box, by the way - that's essentially the same trade dress for UK Rarities and The Beatles Collection. The one I'm listing is on this page - the box with "From Liverpool" on it. www.jpgr.co.uk/boxlp.html

LOVE SONGS Stupid cover art! They look like they couldn't care less about love! LOL, you weren't impressed with the mock-leather album cover to Love Songs? The album jacket was to give the appearance of being leather(it was just textured cardboard) like a very nice leather-bound diary concealing secret love musings.

Spoilt for choice. Most of the Capitol sleeves look like they've been thrown together from scrap book left-overs by men in grey suits without a grain of artistry or imagination. Perm any one from about a dozen. Let's start with Beatles Second Album.

Perm any one from about a dozen. Let's start with Beatles Second Album. That's a good choice too. Music-wise the American "Second Album" is good but what crap packaging! Would color photos have hurt instead of that red or brown tinted black and white! The Freeman black and white shots are art, not the shoddy photos on The Beatles Second Album. Since ties eliminate the tied selections, we could lose a lot of covers early on if everyone voted for different things. Hopefully Winnie will write a reason for his choice as Reel Music seems to have a lead. I will say that the Reel Music cover somewhat reminds me of the excitement of going to the old-fashioned, small town movie theaters with the lit-up marquees. That's lost now to super-plexes.

It's cheesy, shoddy, and looks thrown together at the last minute (which I suspect it was ). I actually like the Love Songs cover, and I dislike the original Rock and Roll Music less than Reel Music ( perhaps because my sister had R & RM and I played the grooves off of it - but don't tell my sister! ) What do you think, sirs? (5 bonus points to anyone who knows the reference! )

Good response Winston! Herr Vectis must count your vote now! ;D
We need more voters with reasons! Let's determine the coolest Beatles' album cover and in the process chide the feeble ones which there are a lot of right now!

I'm opting for The Beatles' Story. An album which was put together exclusively to take money from kids who would buy anything with "Beatles" on the sleeve (but which nonetheless included a live excerpt thus making it an essential purchase for completists), it got exactly the sleeve it deserved - a contents list, 4 b/w portraits out of the library, and a crappy Union Jack (Oh, so they're English, are they?) ie. hacked out crap. There was less effort put into this sleeve, in terms of concept and execution, than into any of the other sleeves here.

I've never been crazy about the cover on A Collection Of Beatles Oldies. The artwork is very out of place for the Beatles music. Equating their music to imagery of the 1920's just doesn't work for me. Even if the title has oldies in it, it's too anachronistic.
