This time we lose Help! (US version - the UK one is still in) and Yellow Submarine Songtrack. I CAN'T BELIEVE The Early Beatles IS STILL THERE.

I can't believe that 'Yellow Submarine Soundtrack' got voted off. A simple, effective blow-up of the cartoon submarine worked far better for CD than the rather cluttered original YS sleeve....and while no masterpiece, it's surely way better than the cheapo, dreary, generic Capitol sleeves still littering the tourney. Still, there you go...
My vote for this round is The Early Beatles. The sleeve follows the stock Capitol formula of contemporary photo of the band adorned with ugly, nondescript, industrial lettering. It's horrible.

HEY JUDE again. Not a very photogenic pose from the Beatles.

FROM THEN TO YOU looks cheap; of course, given what it was, it probably didn't have a lot of money poured into the design.

I'll vote for THE EARLY BEATLES. The crass commercialism of the "NOW ON CAPITOL" wording rubs me the wrong way. The blue and red lettering looks foul.

Question: What is the difference between the two versions of the Rubber Soul sleeve? Is it just the colouring of the words 'Rubber Soul' or is there something else? To be honest, the Capitol sleeve depicted just looks a bit faded.

To be honest, the Capitol sleeve depicted just looks a bit faded. I think there was a difference. My question is, and I guess I could hunt down Round 1, but did vectis omit the original Yellow Submarin album or did I forget to ever post it? I thought of that as I deleted YS Songtrack from the album roll. I don't remember the original YS!

I think the original YS album went early on.
With Rubber Soul, the UK text is browny-orange, the US text is khaki; the UK has the Parlophone logo on it (does the US one have the Capitol logo?). And, on the reverse, there are 3 less tracks listed on the US one (smirk).

I can see the headlines now: JSD Error Compromises Tourney Outcome! One of your most avid voters here has already accused me of posting the worst image of Live At Hollywood Bowl to influence voters. I am so sorry vectis. I do think it is a cool cover and reminds me so much of the late 1960's. I was just trying to provide visuals and now there is all of this, a tainted tourney. The hate P.M.'s I am getting are rather cold: "Damm, you suck, I hope you die!" "Hey JSD, if we had a smiley face for sucks, it would be your image!" "John S. Damm, this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs." "Thanks John for ruining the one thing that could distract me from the Rupert Murdoch scandal, vectis' Album Cover Tourney." "Go back to your Partridge Family Board, troll!" I feel terrible! I have corrected it.

I am voting for From Then To You. I originally thought it cool when this tourney started but as I scroll up and down the images, it gets rather garrish. Cool idea but done on a low budget.

May I vote?
I've been sitting these out but now it's getting rather interesting...
Of the remaining covers I'd vote to ax FROM THEN TO YOU... looks like an obvious hodgepodge, just a bunch of squares thrown together.

Thanks to Vectis and JSD for keeping it going! The tourney is moving at the pace I wish life went. And thanks Woolie but I can't take any credit, all glories to Vectisfabber! If anything, I tainted the votes by not putting up the YS album cover. Hopefully it would still be in play anyway. It is a very nostalgic cover, YS was the last hurrah of Beatlemania in terms of crowds for premiers, merchandise, etc.

I don't think that there has been a single vote against MMT. Looking at it in detail it is rather garish. Glenn pointed out the cheesy font on the Red and Blue albums but check out the font on MMT, it is worse.

John: I like the EP cover alone better than the LP version, though Capitol's (I'm assuming) attempt at framing the UK cover, is a valiant effort at psychedelia and not typical of earlier Capitol hackwork. BTW, I still vote for red and blue.

I'll vote Hey Jude - I quite like the photo, but it doesn't seem to have much to do with the album content.
Moving on...
