Naah. I think it's trite, cliche'd, saccharine, and lacks anything distinctive to recommend it other than Henry's solo. In fact, I rank his ballads (mostly) only just above his rock (mostly) as stuff which is at the bottom of my list of preferences - it's the upbeat pop stuff which I like best.

I voted off "My Love," because those minutes when the guitar solo isn't playing is cringeworthy. Of course, "Big Barn Bed" has the unwelcome quality, too, but it rocks OK. All in all, though, this whole album could be voted out in the first round... JcS This is scary. Joey is reading my mind. Off with MY LOVE!!!

I don't know if this will influence any votes but when things get tough in our lives, my wife and I put "My Love" on, hold hands, stare into each others eyes, tenderly discuss our goals and aspirations and.....oh who am I B.S.'ing here! You know me too well. My wife and I don't ever do stuff like that!

In the event of a tie, the most rational, sane and impartial person on this Board should get the deciding vote. I nominate Vectis. <... C'mon 'Big barn bed'!!!!...>

I can't believe it, *Little Lamb Dragonfly*...the song I thought was going to win this Survivor, has been voted off, Geeeeez. Never saw that coming........... LLD is an unabashed heartbreaker, love it or hate it. Macca has written quite a few classic heartbreak songs -- Yesterday, of course. Long & Winding Road. Here Today. Helter Skelter (ha ha). I was 17, a senior in high school when Red Rose Speedway came out. I was suffering from my first massive unrequited crush for this chick in my class and LLD was "our" song. Well, it was "my" song, I guess. The relationship never got past the unrequited level. But I used to listen to LLD over and over and sort of cry in my beer (before I was even old enough to start drinking). I think McCartney had a special gift for capturing those quicksilver and ethereal romantic feelings that some people can relate to and that other people find puerile. Love is kinda' sickening after all, ain't it? Red Rose Speedway was an interesting album for me because by that time (1974) I'd been following the Beatles for 10 years since I first heard "She Loves You" in 1964. So by the point you had a sense of how the whole Beatles thing had developed.

I also like, Ace, your infamous story on how you came about procuring RRS. I think all applicable statute of limitations have run. ;D

Winston, you're the man! Not to disrespect poster theman. "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" would be the last thing my wife and I would ever say to each other! "Run For Your Life" might be more apt.

I love the idea that the equivalent of an 'our song' for an unrequited love would be a my song. I have a back-catalogue from my teens and twenties full of such tragic tunes!

Too bad I missed the whole Survivor! I just voted anyway, in favor of MY LOVE - the best song on this album, and one of Paul's best solo recordings of all. (LITTLE LAMB DRAGONFLY is one of his most dull).
Overall I am not a fan of RRS, and I think this outcome pretty much fits in with my feelings on the album... I feel that MY LOVE and BIG BARN BED (in that order) are the most enjoyable songs on this disposable record.

Great Survivor Rocko! So did "Big Barn Bed" survive?
Wow, great Survivor, great album! RRS is the Paul McCartney I love: funky, rocks out, mellows out, experiments and at all times never looking back to the Ghost of Beatles Past.
Sadly, BOTR was made with the weight of The Beatles crushing Paul. He for some reason felt the need to appease the critics and some fans who believed in "Yesterday" and not "Tomorrow."
This Survivor has made me love the first two versions of Wings: Paul, Linda, Denny and Denny and then (the line-up for RRS) Paul, Linda, Denny, Denny and Henry.
These were the Wings with the most artistic integrity.

The boys in the joint would never let me forget that one. The least I could've done was try to steal a Rolling Stones album or something a little funkier like that.

this was a survivor so if you voted for My Love, you were actually voting for Big Barn Bed I didn't vote MY LOVE, I voted "in favor" of it so it would come out on top (meaning I voted for BBB). At least, I think I did that.

The poll graphic at the top of the page seems to be showing an 8-8 tie between 'Big barn bed' and 'My love'. Was there a 'casting vote' for the final (correct) outcome?

Woolie, Its was 7-7, when Winston broke the (2nd) tie 8-7 in favour of BBB, voting was then closed. Then I (half) wrote up the next thread (Red Rose Speedway--Survivor--Winner! Wings), tired that I was went to bed (ready to post the remainder of my unfinished thread, the following morning). Whilst in my beauty sleep (lol) Mr JoeK posted his belated vote......

Hmmm, I wonder who RTP would have voted for? For that matter, I'm surprised he sat this one out. Now that I think about it, has he gone missing (this coming from someone who disappears much of the time:)?
