This is incredibly difficult. I'll revert to point scoring
1. "Beware of Darkness" 3:48 - not a favourite. 6/10 2. "Apple Scruffs" 3:04 - I love this. 9/10 3. "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)" 3:46 - atmospheric, but also not a favourite. 7/10 4. "Awaiting on You All" 2:45 - but this is. 10/10 5. "All Things Must Pass" 3:44 - as is this 10/10
Total 42/50 = 84%
MCCARTNEY, Side 1
1."The Lovely Linda" – 0:42 - throwaway. 2."That Would Be Something" – 2:37 - OKish 6/10 3."Valentine Day" – 1:40 - undistinguished bt OK 7/10 4."Every Night" – 2:30 - good 8/10 5."Hot as Sun/Glasses" – 2:06 - good 8/10 6."Junk" – 1:54 - sublime 10/10 7."Man We Was Lonely" – 2:57 - good 8/10 total 47/60 = 78%
ATMP nudges it.

Another easy one for me. ATMP is ahead of McCARTNEY in every way. Go George!

ALL THINGS MUST PASS, Side 3
it's quite apt here the title of George's album as ALL THINGS MUST PASS, including this challenge from McCartney side 1...

ALL THINGS MUST PASS, Side 3I start by saying I love McCartney-1, it is a great Side of music. I love how Paul made the deliberate decision to become a man again instead of a part of The Beatles' hit making machine. It is organic Paul prevailing over the Robo-Paul who emerged on Abbey Road. Unfortunately, Macca-1 is competing against one of the best solo album Sides of all times. ATMP-3 has my three favorite songs on the whole album with "Beware Of Darkness," "Apple Scruffs," and "All Things Must Pass". "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)" is in my Top eight favorite ATMP songs. I very much dislike "Awaiting On You All" for its sing-around-the-campfire melody and its hateful anti-Roman Catholic lyrics, some of which George didn't have the guts to include in the lyrics accompanying the original album release(might hurt sales ). Still, four superb songs despite one preachy song(that pretends to be anti-preachy) carries the day for me with ATMP-3.

ATMP
So far there is only one uncredited McCartny vote, only one person who is anonymously putting The Lovely Linda and Man We Was Lonely up with All Things must Pass et.al. Is this the start of a new honorable voting wave?

Pretty obviously, I'm going for ATMP Side 3. I cannot hold the corny lyrics of Awaiting On You All against George, as the master of the corny lyric, Macca, is up against him here. If I penalized George, I'd have to castigate Macca!
But apart from those corny lyrics on Track 4, everything about ATMP3 is mature, considered, and thoughtful.
George wins.

PS As I write, one hero has voted for Macca. Why don't they tell us why - it's a forum, for crying out loud. No one cares who wins - it's the discussion that counts! Come on - be brave!

I'm gonna be one of the two oddballs and vote for "McCartney." There are more sides on ATMP than "McCartney" and although there's some good songs on the side to vote on, the "McCartney" just does better for me.

I think "All Things Must Pass" and "The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp" are two of the best songs George ever made. "McCartney" is interesting to listen to but George clinches it for me.

ATMP side 3
All Things Must Pass, Awaiting on You All, and Beware of Darkness are things of sheer beauty. I can''t fairly say that about any of the tracks on Macca 1.

ATMP side 3 wins easily. I like every song on it. "All Things Must Pass" is superb and "Beware of Darkness" is almost as good. I like the music of "Awaiting On You All' tremendously as it is one of George's best uptempo songs. "Apple Scruffs" is fun and I love the harmonica. "Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp", the song that stands out the least to me, is still quite good. Contrast that to MCCARTNEY where "Every Night" is excellent, but no other song is as good as anything on ATMP side 3. "Hot As Sun" and "Junk" come close though. The others are all OK except "Valentine's Day", which goes nowhere. An easy win for George!

Besides the Awaiting on You All preachfest-all the rest are 9 stars or better. As for Macca only Every Night and Hot as Sun go above 8.

ALL THINGS MUST PASS, Side 3George at his absolute best, all songs I'd give it a max rating of 5 (or 10/10) His best song for ATMP-3 (IMO, still can't understand the dislike for it) is *Awaiting On You All*. Its a kick-a** song whether it has preachy or if it had other lyrics...The chords, tempo of it, the stomping (similar to *What Is Life*) is incredible....

ATMP-3.
Not a weak track on this side. Also, count me as one who loves the "wall of sound" of "Awaiting on You All."
I always thought Macca's first album was rather weak, but have come around to its' charms over the years. But, "The Lovely Linda' is lame, simple as that and "Valentine's Day" is pretty undistinguised.

Beware of Darkness and All Things Must Pass are the greatest Harrison songs probably second only to Here Comes The Sun. So ATMP 3 gets the vote.

ATMP 3, easily.
Since this will be the last chance I have to comment on MC1 1 in this tournament, let me say that I like it OK, but it hardly overwhelmed me. I think it was the second solo album I got, after RAM (which, actually, I just borrowed and taped, but that counts) and the 14 or 15 year old me didn't know all the Beatle songs or the history behind the recording of it. I think I liked it better when I knew less about it.
Even trying to be objective, "The Lovely Linda" is a waste of time, albeit briefly. "That Would Be Something" was the germ for a good song, not a good song in and of itself. I can't hum a note of "Valentine Day" as I sit here (quick YouTube break...comes on, instantly came back to me). It's OK as filler. "Every Night" is a keeper. "Hot As Sun/Glasses" isn't as good as "Valentine Day." I think "Junk" also needed a bit more work, but it's nice as it is. "Man We Were Lonely" gets annoying before it ends.

Hey, I voted for McCartney. What's with all the calling out? I had to get to a wedding reception. Today, I like "Junk" better than "Darkness" or "ATMP." That's essentially what it comes down to for me. Overall, I think the loose feel of McCartney has aged well and just that one song pushes it for me.

You sum up well the appeal to me of McCartney with its "loose feel" and I totally agree that the album has aged well. The rap on ATMP is that it hasn't aged as well. I voted for ATMP-3 but it wasn't a landslide for me. Hopefully an open bar at the reception!
