You guys voting against Lennon no matter what or reacting and voting against Paul no matter what do realise that whatever side wins is completely irrelevant, right? I doubt the winner of a tourney where 20 people more or less vote each round is going to make the cover story of next month's Mojo: "We knew it all along! Imagine 2 is the best Solo Beatle side. The intriguing details of the tourney and more on Page 35. Plus: Does Uncle Albert suck? The votes reveal the answer! Also a revealing interview with Joeyself: 'I didn't really care all that much'. Plus 36 more reviews" Best post! ;D Yeah, another nominee for post of the year! JcS

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Theres some stiff competition here (though I am still bummed that Redrose Speedway got knocked out in the early rounds). You and me both, ace! Imagine my depression at the really early and lopsided exits of Wings Wild Life 1 & 2! I am not anti-Paul, I am just anti-"BOTR is the greatest solo Beatles album in the universe." I fought for Paul's first four albums in this tourney and the BOTR Army threw me under the bus where I was crushed. I am sorry I am sacrificing Ram-1 on sacred principle but a person who stands for nothing will fall for anything! It just shows the torment we Beatles fans go through. Trying to evaluate all this MATERIAL. Living in a material world. I guess I'm just a material girl. No, its mind-boggling because you can interpret all this Beatles material any which way. And there are no wrong answers.

Oh, I only used Imagine as an example, it's not my favorite but I'm guessing it'll be either something from Imagine, BOTR or ATMP. Personally, I'd like RAM or POB to win.

Ya know Diego, if I was a betting man I'd put those 3 albums as the top three favorites. Course, I bet on the Steelers in the Super Bowl, so that shows you what I know.

Tough choice here. I enjoy both sides, except for "Smile Away." In the end, it was the end of Side 1 of RAM that did it in this time. GH 1 doesn't have that drop-off, and in fact, ends on a high note. That's something in the programming of a vinyl side that is lost in the digital era, but since this is a "side" tourney, I take it into consideration.
I see I will be able to praise RAM 1--and I do like the rest of it--in a future match, so a few words about GH 1 as it leave us: "Love Comes To Everyone" should have been a bigger hit in 1979. Given what I've read about the radio industry around that time, I'm guessing the "promo money" wasn't behind it as some of the tracks that were being played on the airwaves. I don't remember ever hearing it before I bought the album sometime in the mid 80's. "Blow Away" was popular enough that I bought the single in '79. Back then, I had an 8-track player in my car and an 8-track recorder on my stereo, so I'd buy singles to put on compilation tapes, and this one wound up on such a tape.
I was never bothered by the resurrection of the Beatles' outtake--and I think by the time I got the album, I knew "Not Guilty" was a reject from the White Album sessions--or the revamping of "Here Comes The Sun." I thought both tracks stood on their own in the midst of this line-up quite well. "Soft-Hearted Hana" was the b-side to "Blow Away," so I already knew that song, although I didn't play it as much as some b-sides.
Outside of a couple of the ATMP sides, GH 1 is my favorite side of Harrison's career, and I hate to see it go, but RAM 1 is understandably hard to beat.

Actually, I might have voted for side-2 of Ram over GH-1. But , for me, in keeping with the spirit of this tourney, I have to go with GH-1. It's a side in which I NEVER skipped over any of the songs in they day. I can't say the same for Ram-1 (can you say 3 Legs:)).
