DOUBLE FANTASY, Side 2 vs. RINGO, Side 2
1. "Watching the Wheels" John Lennon 3:35 2. "Yes, I'm Your Angel" Yoko Ono 3:08 3. "Woman" John Lennon 3:22 4. "Beautiful Boys" Yoko Ono 2:55 5. "Dear Yoko" John Lennon 2:34 6. "Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him" Yoko Ono 4:02 7. "Hard Times Are Over" Yoko Ono 3:20
RINGO, Side 2
1. "Oh My My" (Poncia/Starkey) – 4:16 2. "Step Lightly" (Starkey) – 3:15 3. "Six O'Clock" (P. McCartney) – 4:06 4. "Devil Woman" (Poncia/Starkey) – 3:50 5. "You and Me (Babe)" (Harrison/Mal Evans) – 4:59
DOUBLE FANTASY gets its second tough draw in this tournament--Side 1 squared off against McCartney's BOTR 1 in the first match. Side 2 of RINGO is the weaker of the two, but will the Yoko-dominated Side 2 of DF have enough firepower to overtake RINGO 2? Well, that's why we play 'em--to see (and to talk about it as we do).

Let's get this over cleanly and quickly.
I Like three songs out of five on Ringo 2: Step Lightly, Devil Woman, You & Me (Babe).
I ONLY like Watching The Wheels on DF2.
So Congrats, Ringo.

RINGO 2, and quite easily.
Four Yoko songs on DF 2 means I can't put it on and enjoy it from start to finish. RINGO 2 doesn't have that problem. Even the ones I don't like so much--"Devil Woman" and "Six O'Clock"--are pleasant enough to sit through.

DOUBLE FANTASY, Side 2 vs. RINGO, Side 2
1. "Watching the Wheels" 10 2. "Yes, I'm Your Angel" 7 Makin Whoopie… 3. "Woman" John Lennon 10 4. "Beautiful Boys" Yoko Ono 7 5. "Dear Yoko" John Lennon 7 the sequel to Oh Yoko-not a bad tune 6. "Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him" Yoko Ono 5 even the John version just drones on. 7. "Hard Times Are Over" Yoko Ono 9 I actually liked this one-John’s gospel singing has “character”.

RINGO, Side 2
1. "Oh My My" (Poncia/Starkey) 10 2. "Step Lightly" (Starkey) 8 3. "Six O'Clock" (P. McCartney) – 8.5 4. "Devil Woman" (Poncia/Starkey) – 7.5 5. "You and Me (Babe)" (Harrison/Mal Evans) – 8
Wow- I guess with this one I have to average out Ringo 42/5 for a total of 58.8
The Ringster wins.

Another tough draw for DF, an album I quite enjoy. It wouldn't stand a chance against RINGO side 1, but with 2 it is a closer call. "Watching The Wheels" and "Woman" are the two best songs on either of these sides, but then "Six O'Clock" and "Devil Woman" would be next (I think Six O'Clock" is a very good McCartney song, better than much of what he put on RRS). "Oh My My" was an OK single, but could have been shorter. The other two Ringo songs are also OK, but nothing special. "Dear Yoko" is not as good as the earlier "Oh Yoko". I don't mind the Yoko songs at all. So my vote goes to DF.

DOUBLE FANTASY, Side 2
As I wrote earlier during the Lennon reissue-mania, I have finally come to appreciate DF as a true concept album and not just a collection of John's last seven songs released in his lifetime. While never ignoring Yoko's songs in the past, I now see how they play off of and indeed feed John's songs(and vice versa) to make them better, to have more context.
DF-2 when taken as a whole and when viewed as this extraordinary dialog between a complex man and woman easily surpasses the weaker of Sides from RINGO.

DF-2
every song is by far better than Ringo, imo, DF is in imo the greatest solo album and that's because of Yoko's tracks complimenting John's so well .. bad luck Rings ..

Wow, hard to believe Ringo is in the lead against a semi-classic like Double Fantasy. Haveta' go with DF in spite of it being bogged down by unlistenable Ono music.

Even though I voted for DF (and consider Yoko's stuff on this side quite listenable) I appreciate the RINGO album. He more than got by with a little help from his friends on this one. Were it side 1 of Ringo's LP, he'd get my vote. Side 2 isn't bad, but I went with DF because of the two strong tracks ("Watching The Wheels" and "Woman") and the overall concept of the LP>

I'm surprised it is this close, actually; I thought RINGO 2 would be leading by a more comfortable margin, or else I wouldn't have already voted. JcS

Hmmmmmmm. Oh no. Well..... I have given these a listen. I understand the point of "Double Fantasy" and one or two Yoko tracks on the album are edgy and represent the "New Wave" of the coming decade of the 80s. But she doesn't have a good enough voice to carry of any of these tracks on side 2 to a reasonable level. Auto tune do nothing on this baby!
"Watching the Wheels" and "Woman" are two of John's best songs. And dare I say it a nod back to his Beatle days in style. "Dear Yoko" is ok but can 2 excellent tracks and one average one beat Ritchie?
The opening two tracks are very average Ringo fodder. They simply plod along with "Step Lightly' being slightly better. Now "Six O'Clock" is much better by the Beatles Drum 'n Bass section. I actually think I like this song these a lot more these days . Paul & Ringo certainly work well together. "Devil Woman" is fine but ordinary and "You & Me Babe" is much the same.
So I am left with judging 2 of John's finest (plus the Yoko dross) against a bunch of average Ringo songs plus "Six O'Clock".
Well sorry Ritchie. But "Woman" and "Watching the Wheels" are far too good to eliminate at this stage.

I voted for Ringo 2.
Without the Yoko songs, DF wins easily. But bad songs do count in the listening experience (sorry RTP but they really do.)

Gosh, all of this slagging of YOKO. Who would have thought:)?
DF-S2 is one of John's best. Yoko's songs on this album really worked for me as a concept and were VERY listenable back during those exciting times for this "comeback" (uh, except for Beautiful Boys, which is vocally a disaster and lyrically very weak). The other Yoko songs are quite good. "Watching the Wheels" has become a forgotten John classic.
I like Ringo's side 2 alot. Nothing on it is a classic. But, "Beautiful Boys" makes it Ringo by a nose:).
