(A) At the time of writing, thread title has Help2, though it's clear once you're in that it's Help1.
(B) Er, I'll give my vote to Pepper side 2. That high-frequency for canines track is a killer, in the opinion of the mutt next door. In addition, I like the other tracks especially Within You Without You, 64, Rita, Good Morning x2, Pepper reprise and A Day In The Life, not forgetting of course the gibberish in the run out groove.

SGT. PEPPER, Side 2
Side 2 of Pepper is just about my favorite of all album sides. ADITL is obviously a huge reason why, but the other tracks are all solid.

SGT - 2
Although they're both great album sides the presece of ADITL is a big one and The Night Before and Another Girl drag Help -1 down too much.

Wow, these are two sides that are too strong to be in a first round match in my opinion. I would probably pick either of these sides over just about any of the sides that have been matched up thus far. There are no weak songs on either of these sides in my opinion. So let's go "match-up style" to decide who to vote for:
"Help" vs. "A Day In The Life": has to be ADITL, possibly the Beatles greatest song (Pepper 1, Help 0)
"Ticket To Ride" vs. "Good Morning Good Morning": this one goes to Ticket and that great guitar riff and drum roll (Pepper 1, Help 1)
"I Need You" vs. "Within You Without You": A tough one, great lyrics for WYWY and lovely Indian music, but it goes on too long. "I Need You" has a unique guitar sound and nice contributions from the rest of the band: call it a tie! (Pepper 1.5, Help 1.5)
"The Night Before" vs. "Lovely Rita": I like both songs, but "Rita" is one of my favorite pure album tracks-the piano is great. (Pepper 2.5, Help 1.5)
"Another Girl" vs. "When I'm 64": Paul showing his variety with his best country influenced song and his best "old fashioned" song. 64 is a classic and thus gets the vote (Pepper 3.5, Help 1.5)
"You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" vs. "Sgt. Pepper's Reprise": John's Dylan influence but with more of his own touch vs. a great electric rocker. YGTHYLA is simply a more complete song (Pepper 3.5, Help 2.5)
"You're Gonna Lose That Girl" vs. ?: Well how about against Paul's half of ADITL? I'll go with YGLTG with a fantastic John lead vocal and great backing vocals. A sure hit single for virtually any other mid 60's group, just a great album track for the FABS (Pepper 3.5, Help 3.5)
Well, that didn't help (no pun intended) at all.
Which have I listened to more? Well being from the USA, my HELP album was the soundtrack and the songs were spread out over two sides with soundtrack music in between. PEPPER, on the other hand (along with REVOLVER which I fortunately got in the British version) moved me from fan to fanatic about the Beatles.
So Pepper wins, but Help side 1 is the best side I haven't voted for thus far!

Sgt. Pepper Side 2, because I love all the songs(yes, even Lovely Rita!) but I don't care much for You're Going to Lose That Girl.

HELP!, Side 1
I like SPLHCB, I have nothing against Side 2 and in fact George's number here is as stimulating to me as ADITL.
Having said that, I am mostly a John guy and John is superb on H-1 being the main guy on "Help!," "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," "You're Going to Lose That Girl" and "Ticket to Ride."
"The Night Before" and "Another Girl," where Paul is the main guy, are good too and in fact refreshingly underplayed so they still sound new to me. "I Need You" is my favorite Hari song(whether a song George sang but did not write or wrote and sang) from 62 through 66. George is so sincere and sounds genuinely heartbroken and worried.
I think HELP! has been grossly and unjustly maligned since the day it was released. AHDN gets a ton of praise but I think Help has aged significantly better.
And yes, I sincerely believe the songs of H-1 beat out the songs of SPLHCB-2 too. When I stop and think about it, I'll grab the HELP! c.d. for the car over almost all other albums.

Help! 1
Not easy, but I love every song on Help! 1, whereas I simply like WYWY and Rita. Help! wins on quantity.

HELP!, Side 1
Quite an easy choice this time, apart from A Day in the Life, this side of Pepper doesn't have the song quality of Help side 1....
Pepper does have it over Help production wise but does that really count...i don't think it does.....

Ha! HELP! is making a deserved run here! ;D When I went to bed last night, SP 1 was winning 6-0; I looked this morning and it was 6-5. It caused me to wait about casting my vote, because I don't want to create a tie. JcS

Help! - side one. Three great tracks and no real filler. I quite like Pepper side two. WYWY is a bit meh (to use a Vectis-ism); the rest is OK with the obvious exception of ADITL which is one of the great Beatles songs. Overall, a bit uneven, so the vote goes to Help!
I wish that they had given GMGM the same treatment as, say, 'She said she said' or 'AYBCS' off Revolver - i.e. guitar driven without all the overdubs. It is the one track on Pepper that would have really benefitted from a simpler approach.

Pepper 2, again pretty much on the basis of "A Day in the Life." Trouble is I love that side of "Help!," but "A Day in the Life" is incredible.

Gotta go w/Pepper if just for ADITL! Help Side 1 is a solid effort for sure though.

After that 6-0 start, SP 2 has gone 2-9 on the last 11 ballots. I don't find it odd that it's close, but the way it is falling is unusual.

No votes in this one for more than a week; surely more than 17 of us will weigh in on this tight match. I've not voted on it yet because I MIGHT be needed to break a tie.

Help! 1...every song is amazing, possibly the best side ever. SPLHCB2 has a couple clunkers.
