The lyrics, like most of STINYC, are naive Radical Cause Of The Week Club claptrap. Musically, I cordially dislike everything Elephant's Memory had a hand in - if ever John lined himself up with anything which made his music sound horrible, it was them. There were some touches of decent melody on STINYC - this wasn't one of them. STINYC was released in the USA weeks before it arrived in England, and I stumped up over the odds for a US import because I couldn't wait. Spot the Charlie time (good sleeve though). 1. I expected you here to bash this song, vectis! Now don't forget to hit all the other Songs Of The Day at your earliest convenience!

Nobody's questioning what can be thought. People do have a right to protest against what they are subjected to. Maybe speaking his name should be restricted to certain areas, certainly not on the public airways. And certainly... CERTAINLY... not on Beatle Boards.

What you are proposing is just plain censorship, with little justification. You might dislike reading Chapman's name, but people have a right to read about and discuss him if they want. Public airways are for the public. It is not doing any real harm.

I do feel though that the actually music and melodies are generally very good. I think Elephants Memory sounded better in the studio than live, but again in all fairness- only the matinee "rehearsal" of One to One was ever released fully.

Public airways are for the public. It is not doing any real harm. George Carlin had his list of seven dirty words that cannot be said on tv or the radio. I think it's now down to about 2. All I'm saying is take it back to 3. Take that foul mouth language to cable. The public airways should have some standards. You can read and discuss P**s F**e all you want, s**t, I don't give a f**k.

Eeh, I would hope anyone of serious thought, would know I was kidding here. "His name should be banned for TV/Radio"? The follow-up with the censored cuss words, ... kidding too. I think we're talking about a voluntary action here. Certainly the fans can agree to not speak Pus's name. I just realized I was spelling his name wrong. It's Pus Sucker.

Here are the lyrics for Attica State...........
What a waste of human power What a waste of human lives Shoot the prisoners in the towers Forty-three poor widowed wives
Attica State, Attica State, we're all mates with Attica State
Media blames it on the prisoners But the prisoners did not kill "Rockefeller pulled the trigger" That is what the people feel
Attica State, Attica State, we're all mates with Attica State
Free the prisoners, jail the judges Free all prisoners everywhere All they want is truth and justice All they need is love and care
Attica State, Attica State, we're all mates with Attica State
They all live in suffocation Let's not watch them die in sorrow Now's the time for revolution Give them all a chance to grow
Attica State, Attica State, we're all mates with Attica State
Come together join the movementTake a stand for human rights Fear and hatred clouds our judgement Free us all from endless night
Attica State, Attica State, we're all mates with Attica State
Attica State, Attica State, we all live in Attica State
Attica State, Attica State, Attica, Attica, Attica State

Having been once locked in a prison holding cell in Michigan City, Indiana, at my State's meanest prison, to conduct a mandatory "settlement conference" with a pro se prisoner litigant(a guy representing himself and suing because he didn't like the room service), the following lines always crack me up:
"Free the prisoners, jail the judges Free all prisoners everywhere All they want is truth and justice All they need is love and care."
I didn't ask to take any of my new friends home for love and care!

Here's my hare-brained opinion:
As music I give it a 2 As conceptual art I give it a 4 And as political intelligence I give it a zero.

It's ok. Like the tune, disagree with the lyrics but not sure that should matter, but it does. I'll give it a 2.

Bad lyrics and misguided sentiment. Although not one of John's best vocal outings, the song does rock a bit. 1.5 it is.
