Maybe we do need a fifth level like "Magical". After all "there is a fifth dimension..." Sorry, that was a Twilight Zone flashback. Love that show. If anyone else does we should start a favorite Twilight Zone episode thread--Beatles related Twillight Zones of course. How about the Suzy Parker Twilight Zone, #12 Looks Just Like You. It's the one where people had surgery to look beautiful. There were several models, Suzy Parker being one of them. Suzy was in a car crash during the filming and almost didn't finish it. (Maybe she was secretely replaced by a look-alike.) If there are no 4.5s, drop all of my 4s down to 3.5. There are no solo Beatle songs as good as Strawberry Fields. Hey, this is solo Beatle song #12! I hear Twilight Zone music.

One of John's worst solo songs, but probably not fair to criticize since it was unfinished. However, he really does sound almost emasculated here.
I can't give it more than a 1.

agree with you on this one Man! Debjorgo is one poster I can't figure out. Likes this and "Do You Want To Know A Secret" but doesn't like "Warm And Beautiful", "I'm Carrying", "The Man" or "One Of These Days"

Likes this and "Do You Want To Know A Secret" but doesn't like "Warm And Beautiful", "I'm Carrying", "The Man" or "One Of These Days" I'm not sure what this song and Do You Want to Know a Secret have in common with the songs you listed. Flower Princess has a nice little groove going on with it, and as I said, the guitar work is really tasty. Lennon's voice sounds great. Secret starts off with the classic rock and roll dramatic spoken words, "You'll never know how much I really love you, you never know how much I really care". It's almost like Leader of the Pack. It's pop, but it's a lot of fun. Warm and Beautiful starts off good, but the "Sunlight's morning glory tells the story of our love" is where it loses me. It sounds like Rosanne Barr should be singing it. I'm Carrying? I don't know where to begin. What's he carrying? Tell me that. It's a preamble to Winter Rose. The Man is pointless '80's pop (tink-a tink-a tink'a). It's more Michael than Paul. I'm not a Michael hater when it's one of his songs I like. But this is not one of them. One of These Days, I have no problem with bad lyrics when the songs rocks. This one doesn't. When you try to follow the lyrics, you think for a second, "ah, this might be good", but it goes nowhere. One day he's going to breathe fresh air? Okay, yeah.

I'm Carrying? I don't know where to begin. What's he carrying? Tell me that. In the song he says "with my carnation hidden by the packages". I think he's carrying a gift for the woman. Bascially it's "I've got a present here for you", I think.

Bascially it's "I've got a present here for you", I think. I think that it was a bag of the finest quality Cannabis that Paul's money could buy and that he and Linda are going to have a fun night in. If I'm not wrong, the phrase "I'm carrying" has street connotations so that's why I think that.

One day he's going to breathe fresh air? Okay, yeah. So you are going on about the lyrics in those songs (which I happen to like quite a bit anyway) but it is the music to them that is what makes them excellent for me. Then combine music and lyrics and you have some nice songs. But I know there are those who like their songs to "rock" and don't like sentimental stuff. Well I think "Flower Princess" and "Do You Want To Know A Secret" are way past any of those as overly drippy lyrics plus the music isn't as good. And I do still like "Secret" (and I like your comparison to "Leader Of The Pack") "Flower Princess" I rated it as average. It is OK, but unfinished. I'm not trying to be critical or a jerk, I was truly puzzled and I think I understand a bit more. I enjoy a good discussion.
