2 -- John's lucky to get an "average" rating from me here. This is a really ho-hum remake of the original (which was way better).

3
not the best cut on Rock-n-Roll, but a good cover.

2.5 from me. It is among my least favorite from the R-n-R album.
I harp on this every time but hunt down the 2004 re-issue of this album where Yoko oversaw the remixing of this album. It makes that album come to life.
I now have the 2010 re-issued version too which was the remastering of the original mixes and it is certainly better than the first edition c.d. of R-n-R but the 2004 version kicks ass, just as I think the year or two earlier remix of Mind Games brings that album to life!
In what will undoubtedly roll eyes but is true, I love the short "Ya Ya" that ends Walls And Bridges. I love Julian's involvement and mentioned name in the liner notes and I love John's raw vocal there, short as it is. I'd give that a 4 and it reminds me of the cool little fillers on the original Let It Be album like "Dig It" and "Maggie Mae" that got nuked for LIB...N.

2 Very average cover. Not much of a song to begin with.
I'll have to check out that remaster JSD as I'm not too fond on the ROCK AND ROLL album overall. It is OK, but nothing I ever pull out to listen to or have talked about as a great album.

If Phil Spector wasn't in jail for blowing that chick's head off he should be in jail for what he did to the Rocknroll album.

To me, the one big weakness of a lot of Lennon's solo music is: The songs usually start out with a catchy riff and a nice groove, but then thats it. The rest of the song just repeats that with little variation and I'm usually tired of the song about half-way through. Like I've heard what the song has to offer and thats it. Sorta' like eating fast food where I enjoy the first bite but it tastes more and more bland with each bite. Whereas for some reason his Beatles songs usually captivate me from start to finish.

The short version on WAB is great. Even though Julian goes off beat on the drum, it's so wonderful that we have Julian, and "Dad" (as the liner notes say) on this recording. What a wonderful thing for Julian to treasure considering that he never got to record with "dad" when he became a real musician. I like a lot of the covers by John on the R&R album. This is not among my faves.

He's on his dad's album as a named musician and more importantly, as John's son!

I like this, I give it a 3 based on the 2004 version, it's a song John must have liked alot as a kid.
It's catchy, it's boppy in that 50s style.

OK, so it;s sweet and doesn't take up much space on the album. Hasn't got anything else going for it, though.

2 (average). That is all. I like the tracks either side of it better, Bony Moronie and Just Because.

I might have enjoyed this more if it weren't just a snippet. 2 But JoeK's referring to the RnR, full version. As such, I give it a 3, it's fun to listen to, like most of that album.

All of the Lennon remixes are better. I didn't realize that Rock'n'Roll was from 2004. I had to get the disk out and see. Time flies. 1.5 on this. I like the WaB version better too. Rock'n'Roll does not do much for me, even though I have three copies.
