For Immediate Release Ringo Starr Statement regarding recent video update on his website: Ringo Starr recently put a video update on his official website asking people not to continue to send fan mail to be signed after October 20. This was in direct response to an inordinate amount of items which have recently appeared for sale on e-bay, and to those that repeatedly send cards and items to be signed. This message was not aimed at "real fans" and after over 45 yrs of signing we know they will understand. Ringo has always signed items and is in fact the only Beatle to have been doing so. Ringo also feels strongly that it is a waste of paper and we all should be mindful of our carbon footprint. At the end of the day Ringo wanted to make a message that was clear and to the point and is confident his real fans understand that. That said, the recent response from the media has prompted him to clarify that video. "How amazed am I to the reaction to my video update. I hope this statement gets as much. Please read this in a mellow way. Peace and love, Ringo."

Hi,
Had lunch with my sister today, she asked me if i had seen Ringo make a fool of himself on tv last night, she also told me that the Aussie Today show were mocking him and had dubbed a Thomas episode with the audio from his imbecilic rant .. bottom line. the guy has made an absolute fool of himself.

I'm not sure Ringo ever needed to do a video update regarding no more autographs, but I suppose it serves the purpose for the fans to save their money.
I think the statement that was issued by Ringo is what needed to be mentioned in his video update regarding items he signed appearing on EBay. It is or was generous of Ringo to sign items for fans, however it's an abuse for a person to get an autograph from Ringo and then attempt to make a profit by selling it on EBay.

Yes poor Ringo, I think he's lost the plot.

Spin control.
What crap that Ringo claims, among other things, that his original rant was about helping the environment by encouraging us to be mindful of our "carbon footprint".
And the old, "the real fans will understand" is equally b.s.

Yup, Ringo clearly needs a better publicist. (I hear Geoff Baker might be available... ) NP: Steve Miller Band, "Winter Time" (live), Live From Chicago

Sometimes people expect way too much from a drummer...
He did play with the Beatles and that changed his life for ever..
In the end though,he still the drummer, the human metronome....

What's wrong with selling a signed piece of memorabillia anyway ? It's ok for the fans to make these guys rich and give them unbelieveable wealth and lifestyles by buying all their sh*t but if a fan sells a signed cd or album cover then they're criminals ? In Greek we say ay gamisou .. use google translator if you want to know what that means
