3 -- I like this song. You have to be in the right mood and frame of mind, but it's lovely. And has a good message about living in the now and enjoying life.

3+. Beautiful song, perhaps the tempo could be a little faster.
On my collection CDs I pair this song nicely with John's You Are Here.

5.
The most beautiful, poignant song George ever did and that is saying a lot!
This song always floors me. "Be Here Now" is like "Long Long Long" in that it is so soft but like the White Album's track commands one's attention. I hear the emotion in George's voice.
I dismissed the album LITMW as an 18 year old as boring and preachy. I bought into the damn CW. Back then I never listened to "Be Here Now" properly or closely. Never.
Right after George died, VH-1 did a special on him and they played this song as part of the soundtrack and I fell out of my chair! "What is that beautiful song?" I thought to myself. It had to be some unreleased thing. I did not recognize it because I had dismissed the album and especially Side 2 of that album.
What an amazing gift then to discover this gem in 2001 as it only took me over 20 years to appreciate it.

3. I like it, think it's good, but there are several songs on LITMW I like better. I agree that it's in the Long Long Long and You Are Here categories, good observations.

This was never a favorite of mine. Comparing it most of George's earlier songs, it is sleep inducing. Listening to it today, I can see it in a better light. I give it 2.5--maybe stretch it to 3.

Here are the sparse lyrics....
Remember, now, be here now As its not like it was before. The past, was, be here now As its not like it was before - it was
Why try to live a life, That isnt real, No how A mind, that wants to wander, round a corner, Is an un-wise mind
Now, is, be here now And its not what it was before, Remember, now, be here now As its not like it was before - it was

It's a very laid back song from George, most likely his only real lullaby, i like the acoustic guitar backing...
I'll give it a 3

4. An exquisite piece of work, which opens up layers in my mind as it goes along. Luminous and transcendent. It's material like this which, for me, knocks the socks of rock stuff.

I knew we agreed on something. In fact, your writings on this song years ago cemented my newfound love of it, way back on Steve's first Board. I thought to myself if grouchy old man vectisfabber likes it, it must be good! ;D

This song has nice guitar work on it and George's voice is good throughout but it bores me silly. This may be my least favorite on the album
This album was a disappointment when it came out. I thought the Beatles, be they even solo Beatles, could do no wrong. I felt burned. $3.99 I'll never get back. I think I bought this and Mind Games at the same time. They were both still new releases but both on sale. I did not like either one of them.
But, back then, album purchases were few and far between and you had to listen to them a lot anyway. I grew to like some of the songs but this one was always too slow for me.
1.5

I thought the whole album was preachy and boring. I think I only played Side 2 once in twenty years so "Be Here Now" went right over my head. I rediscovered this album in 2001 but how sad that it took George's passing for me to get into it. It was specifically that VH-1 tribute where "Be Here Now" was used in the show's soundtrack that stopped me cold in my tracks and made me hunt down that song only to learn that I already had it! George was so much more mature than his physical age when he made LITMW.

It's a mood song but lovely nonetheless
I'll give it a 3.0 because not as good as Give Me Love.

I had a very similar experience hearing this song on a radio special shortly after George had died. I didn't remember it from LITMW as I almost always just listened to side 1 of the album. It became a very poignant song at that time. Like a lot of George solo, it is too long and it lacks a little something to make it a 4 for me, but I'll give it a solid 3.
