3. Nice tune. Didn't like the LP when it first came out...but it has aged okay.

Here are the lyrics...
There's a man talking on the radio What he's saying I don't really know Seems he's lost some stocks and shares Stops and stares He's afraid I know That's the way it goes
There's a man talking of the promised land He'll aquire it with some krugerrand Subdivide and deal it out Feel his clout He can stoop so low And that's the way it goes
There's an actor who hopes to fit the bill See's a shining city on a hill Step up close and see he's blind Wined and dined All he has is pose And that's the way it goes
There's a fire that burns away the lies Manifesting in the spiritual eye Though you won't understand the way I feel You conceal, all there is to know That's the way it goes... That's the way it goes... That's the way it goes...

3.5 for me.
It took me years to come back to this album even though I bought it first day release.
Now I quite enjoy Gone Troppo and this is a really good song. I thought Joe Brown shined on it at Concert For George. Wasn't it a shame that songs from more of George's solo albums weren't performed? I was surprised but pleased to hear this one done.

Yes, there was a time when I also dismissed Gone Troppo. I now see that there are some good moments on it. For example, I have come to love Dream Away.
I give That's The Way It Goes a rating of 3 (good). The lyrics are standout. The only thing about the recording that I don't enjoy is the the use of the bass voice of one Willie Greene, who I've never heard of. Just can't take to that.
Thirty years since the release of this album: unbelievable.

Thirty years since the release of this album: unbelievable. Unreal. This November will be 25 anniversary of Cloud Nine. Likewise 30 years now for Tug Of War.

At least my memory is still intact. I still think of the 1970s as if it was yesterday. I can still specifically recall actual visits to record stores to buy 70s music at the time of release.

I was too generous with With a Little Luck. I gave it a 4.0. It's not up here with this song.

When I have time, I have to compose the "Gone Troppo Postulate" as I can't believe how ignored and underrated this album is by many,
That's the Way it Goes is a 3 for me.

When I have time, I have to compose the "Gone Troppo Postulate" as I can't believe how ignored and underrated this album is by many, I'll tell you this... I have re-evaluated GONE TROPPO since listening to a recent edition of the FAB FOURUM discussion show where they covered this album. I used to consider it George's worst LP, but not anymore.

Every Beatles fan needs a Postulate. It is like having a mantra! I very much enjoy Gone Troppo these past 10 years or so.

That's the Way It Goes Unknown Delight Greece Mystical One Gone Troppo Dream Away (Pay no attention to the pig latin) I did check those tracks out again and they are better than I thought. That is an album clearly hurt by bad publicity. I bought it at the time but was put off by Wake Up My Love as you said.
