3 - I like this dabbler. I like the instrumentation, I like the way Paul sings it. It's good fun ... though it means absolutely nothing.

2+ . I see some similarities between this cut and Woman Oh Why- though I prefer the later as one of the great B sides

This is Postulate Hall of Fame stuff. It annoys and claws at the Posh Paul fans who want "And I Love Her," "Michelle," "Eleanor Rigby," "For No One" and AR, Side 2 every time from Paul.
This is Paul strapped to his guitar hung-over, hair uncombed and greasy, just inhaled some the best grass available in the UK in 1970, shirt unbuttoned or no shirt at all, pretty funky smelling being 24+ hours w/out a bath (and having rolled in the hay with Linda for hours on end) and making music that he wants to make and doing what he wants to do and learning how to live without the Beatles.
A great song that made the elitist Beatles fans shudder. I have no evidence of this other than listening to John Lennon's music for 37 years but even John had to secretly like this song even though he roundly dismissed the album it comes from. John loved "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" and was hurt that Paul didn't ask him to play on it and "Oo You" is in that same funky, sexual vein without the shouting. More subtle, more sexual, more hippie.
This is my Paul McCartney. No "Hollywood Paul" here!

Like it.
Especially the panning of the instruments.

3 - I like this dabbler. I like the instrumentation, I like the way Paul sings it. It's good fun ... though it means absolutely nothing. It doesn't mean any more or less than Well Well Well or Oh Yoko. A song to expressing love and affection is just as worthwhile as, for example, Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins. Collins song has a lot of message, but it doesn't do much for me. I give it a 3.5. This song sounds as good as it did in 1970-maybe better with the new release. I really like the full crunch of the guitar sound Paul is getting from the Stratocaster. Fender makes great guitars, but the talented players find their own unique sound treatment on the recording.

2.5. A fun, funky track with some nice touches. But I don't know if its just me but the guitar always sounded slightly out of tune. I dunno, maybe Paul wanted that sound to give it a raw edge.

It doesn't mean any more or less than Well Well Well or Oh Yoko. Cherry picking again, huh? And how do you know I wouldn't say the same thing about either one of those two John songs? (Or maybe another)? You've got to stop always trying to reduce John Lennon any time someone says something less than flattering for Paul, Mr. ReturnToGoldman.... I said the song was fun, I admired Paul's singing and the instrumentation, and awarded the song a 3 ... what's your problem?

A sketch with no substance. Underwhelming, like much of its companion material on this underwhelming album.

We're in Beatle territory here. This could have been on the White Album or Let it Be. It's too loose sounding for Abbey Road unless it was shortened and put in the medley.
There's your Paul McCartney lead guitar, drums and bass to critique, all in one song.

3 (good). Not a major song, but it rocks and what a great voice Paul possessed at this time. I think it was Nicholas Schaffner who described it as "one of the great instruments of rock." I would totally agree with him.

I know you are even handed in your treatment of John and Paul.

2.0 , I don't like the guitar sound on this , it agitates me for some reason. The drumming is amateurish and the vocals are so basic. The instrumental without the vocals is much better, the guitar sound seems to have been smoothened out on that. Sorry but I am too posh for this Paul as well

This is the one rough'n' ready Paul song that I can say I like, one of only 3 worthwhile songs on his first album.

Wonder what this would have sounded like live! Oh well, we'll probably never know.
I like this better than I used to...but hard to give it much more than a 2.5.
