3 -- In re-playing this instrumental I was surprised that I'd rate it "good". I like the overall sound of the whole piece, and am impressed with the many different instruments Paul plays here and the changes in tempo and style.

I give it a 1.5
I like the funky beginning part but the jamming part is boring and way too long.

A 3.5 from me. To me the value was Paul's laid back jamming getting oh so mellow perhaps with the help of some substance and I would have loved to seen the faces on the stuffy old Beatles fans who wanted "And I Love Her," "Yesterday," "For No One," "Martha My Dear" or such and hear this! Their noses would crinkle up, their brows raised, curses at Linda and longings for Jane uttered all as they run to grab and play AR, Side 2 for their fix of "proper Paul." That was close wasn't it, vectis? ;D

3 This is one of the two MCCARTNEY instrumentals (along with "Hot As Sun") that is not either terrible ("Valentine Day"), pointless ("Singlalong Junk") or both ("Kreen Akrore"). One book (I think it may have been Nicholas Schafner's BEATLES FOREVER, said this would make a good soundtrack for a surfing documentary!

3. I suppose you could cut off the last minute, but the rest of it is very engaging. The sound he gets on those instruments especially the guitar is so round and full.
Speaking of round and full, I hope Governor Christie runs for national office this year.
BTW falling asleep at the Bruce Springsteen concert didn't help the governor build a hip image. How could somone so round be so square?

3. I always have a soft spot for that album. Nice drumming by Paul by the way. Plus I love the one-man-band thing. For years one of my favorite toys was my Fostex 4-track tape-recorder and I loved making (or at least TRYING to make) Beatlesque demos, playing and singing all the parts.

It probably was the same look that J,P,G,R expressed when they wanted Elvis to do "All Shook Up", "Jailhouse Rock", "Hound Dog" or "Don't Be Cruel"... and instead they got " Polk Salad Annie"... and "American Trilogy"...!! ;D

2 (average). I like the first half, but not so much the second. Too many instrumentals on McCartney. I enjoy this, Singalong Junk and Hot As Sun (with edit needed). Dislike the rest.
My alternate McCartney:
The Lovely Linda Man We Was Lonely Teddy Boy Everynight Come And Get It That Would Be Something Junk
Singalong Junk Hot As Sun (edit) Moma Miss America (edit) Oo You Goodbye Maybe I'm Amazed
That makes for a strong album, as far as I'm concerned. Big mistake by Paul, IMO, that he did not release something along these lines.

I love it. Both halves. The fact that Paul's playing everything makes it even better. If the Beatles have to go, it'll be okay. They can just put their songs out solo. The Beatles were always topping themselves. Paul continues with that trend here.
4.0.
